Cost of running a bath v long shower

Does anyone know the cost of running an average bath currently?

How would this compare to a long shower?

Depends if the shower is run on electricity or whether it uses water from the boiler or water cylinder.

I don't know but I've always had shallow baths, about 4 inches deep max, and I always thought they must use the same amount of water as long showers.

Depends on the heat source, time in the shower and size of the bath. Baths for us will be more costly as our bath is huge, it takes a good 30 minutes to fill, in that time we could have had at least 4 showers.

Try putting the plug in the bath next time you have a shower and see how much water you use

If its an electric shower then the shower heats the water using electricity
If it runs from the combi boiler then it's heated using gas.

Electricity is more expensive than gas so again it depends on how long a shower is and how deep the bath is

We have a gas boiler heating a tank. Its on 2x 30 mins each day and uses between 12-15kw. We get 4 10 minsshowers (pump not standard water pressure) plus plenty of hw for washing up etc

i reckon we’d get 3 shallow baths.

Long shower will use a lot of electricity, bath in theory should end up cheaper if run on gas. Some power showers use a lot of electricity.

put the plug in during next shower to see how full bath gets.

I've tried that in hotels with an over-bath shower, if I'm washing my hair I get about the same as I'd want for a bath, otherwise it's a lot less.
(Apart from doing this as an experiment, it's when I've been walking in sandals and have mucky feet that need a bit of a soak)
