To think it's become more difficult to buy unscented deodorant?

I'm sure there used to be a few different unscented deodorant options - even supermarkets had their own fragrance free products in the past. I always used Simple, which used to be "No perfume, no colours, just kind" but now isn't. They've introduced fragranced versions, which have taken over the shelf space. I can still get the unscented version on Amazon (for now, at least) but not in my weekly Tesco online shop. I guessed its days were numbered when I heard someone who headed up whatever company bought the brand several years ago scoffing at their customers on the radio because they all "thought they had sensitive skin". I wanted to shout at the radio to tell him I don't have sensitive skin - I just don't like perfume under my arm pits! Aibu to think it's more difficult to buy mainstream brand fragrance free deodorant than it should be? Many of the perfumed options smell almost as bad as BO!

Sounds like you need an anti-perspirant rather than a deodorant. The whole point of deodorants are to cover up the smell of BO with fragrance.

Yes! For years I bought Mitchum, til they changed the formulation, now it smells odd.

Not necessarily. Body odour is caused by the bacteria on your skin. When you sweat, the bacteria release the odour. So most unscented deodorants target the bacteria with long lasting anti-bacterials.

Why wouldn't you want fragranced if you don't have sensitive skin?? Surely it's preferable to smell better rather than worse... Probably why you can't find it no one's buying it so they've stopped stocking it.

But no fragrance smells of nothing, and is better than any other fragrance I've come across.

Pedant. Like most people I use the terms inter-changeably. But it's not really relevant because it's just as difficult to buy unfragranced anti-perspirants.

Think MUM has an unscented roll on. I've seen it in savers

EATmum · 29/08/2022 18:04

I'm an absolute convert to Pitrock. I didn't think it could be sufficient but it's compiled with a heatwave and marathon training - no perfume and no feeling of not being fresh.

Boots still seems To have unscented simple products

Native make an unscented deodorant. I’m allergic to fragrance and yes, it is really difficult to find an effective unscented deodorant.

Vichy roll-on with the white cap. It has to be the 48hr one, the 24hr one isn't as effective. If I can't find that one, I get the men's 48hr one. It's probably the same!! I'm with you op, I want to smell like my perfume, not the multiple layers of shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, laundry detergent etc etc. so I use unscented wherever I can.
