To think sometimes abortion is a wise parenting decision

I was talking to a friend yesterday who had an abortion in her 20’s to find her career. She said she couldn’t make that decision now that she is a mother. I was a bit taken back by it as as mother of 2 I knew I couldn’t handle another child emotionally so as much as I wouldn’t want to, I think I would terminate for the benefit of my existing children.

She’s just saying how the equation feels for her. It will be different for every woman and of course varies with time and circumstances.
I would have had no qualms about having a termination when younger. Not one. Once I had kids and they were still small for me I would have struggled a bit to justify it to myself as I had easy pregnancies, was supported and financially could have easily managed. Now the kids have left home it would be a no brainier again as I feel far too old to have a new baby, it’s not right for us at all. That’s all she is articulating I think.

Completely agree. I aborted a 3rd pregnancy because I knew we couldn’t cope financially or emotionally. My main consideration was how it would affect existing dc. I won’t ever be made to feel guilty about making the best decision for my family. Was always pro choice but have become way more so since having dc of my own.
