To ask nursery to do this?

Whenever my child paints at nursery his clothes come home absolutely covered in paint, understandably as he's only little!

But it never washes off so it basically ruins those clothes. He does have cheap nursery clothes but it still adds up when I have to replace those because they are getting paint over them at least once a week.

I'm thinking of putting some of these paint covered ones (washed and clean obviously but still stained) into his bag and asking nursery if they are painting can they change him into those first.

Is that reasonable? I know they are really busy but I can't keep replacing clothes because of paint. Is there not some sort of washable paint they can use?!

Our nursery had an open paint station so although the kids were told to put on a apron they often just went up and started painting. They had a uniform so we used to just buy black joggers that hid the stains and his nursery tops were all marked.

Word of warning it doesn't stop once they go to school I'm forever buying polo shirts as can't shift the stains.

We had a draw of cloths for nursery, they all had paint on or something ... to be fair most kids didn't wear 'best' clothes... although there was always a few 🧐

I think it’d be really unreasonable to ask nursery to change your child’s entire outfit before they paint. Often different play stations are set up so the kids can go between them so he may be playing with something else eg water then decide he wants to go paint so they’d have to wait to swoop on him to change him. Surely he’s wearing an apron anyway.

Usually children’s paint washes out really easily anyway. My 3 year old gets covered in paint and it washes off each time.
