If you don't generally treat yourself, what do you indulge in when you do?

I rarely buy myself things, live relatively frugally, save, don't have a beauty refine beyond moisturiser.

I could indulge if I wanted to but don't even know what I'd treat myself too.
Perhaps the odd massage, or an expensive handbag or a spa day, but then I talk myself out of it.

If you don't frequently indulge. What do you test yourself to when you do? A

My biggest treat is time to myself. Ooohh, a chance to sort the bed linen cupboard, print off and frame some new photos, get to the bottom of the ironing pile and clean the skirting boards. I’d feel great for months after that.

but if I’m spending money it would be on books and cake from expensive hipster bakeries.

lickenchugget · 28/08/2022 22:40

Clarins blue bubble bath, new underwear, a new cookbook and actually cooking something from it.

For cheap treats - body scrubs from Boots or Superdrug, moisturising foot sock packs, Lindt extra fine milk chocolate

Ragged · 28/08/2022 22:41

I just don't. Sometimes I spend more because it's expedient, or curiousity gets better of me & I get something relatively expensive because it has a novelty aspect, sbut I don't perceive that I ever indulge myself for sake of indulging myself.

A lie in, maybe. Or a hot bath that I am very slow to get out of.

I occasionally order a box of pies as a special treat. They come in the post and I will scoff 3-4 as soon as they’re delivered.

I'm getting better at treating myself after years of putting everyone else first. DH encouraged me to set up an amount each month to spend on whatever I want.
I've bought myself three pairs of trainers this month, I usually just have one and wear them to death.

Dorma bedding. 1000 thread count. Always white.
Kerastese shampoo and conditioner.
Kerastese hair oil
Estee Lauder foundation.
Revitalash lash serum.
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse
Flexitol foot cream

These things are all pricey, and i always wince when i buy them - but they all last AGES.

The bedding - one set wash/put back on (weekly) lasts 5 years apx.
The shampoo and cond. - 3 months.
Hair oil - 3 years
Foundation - 6 months.
Lash serum - 3 ml lasts 9/12 months (every day use)
Nuxe oil - big bottle lasts over a year
Big tub of foot cream lasts 18 months. (3 + times a week)

I don't spend a lot on clothes and bags.

minipie · 28/08/2022 23:06

Massage. But only because I know someone who is really good - I wouldn’t bother for just an ok massage.

Gel pedicure. I never bothered with normal varnish but gel/shellac lasts so well it’s worth it. I don’t care about it looking a bit “grown out”, so it lasts me weeks and weeks.

Cashmere. I don’t spend a lot on clothes but all my winter jumpers are cashmere as it’s just so much warmer and softer than anything else (I feel the cold). And washes and wears well if washed on cold. I buy in the sales.

Nice fruit in summer. Cobnuts in autumn and chestnuts in winter.

JaceLancs · 28/08/2022 23:09

Spa day - facial - other beauty treatment outside my normal routine - pedicure etc

BlackeyedSusan · 28/08/2022 23:11

Food. Pringles mainly. (Quite a lot of food is "luxury" after the limited/ basic diet of childhood where bread and dripping featured regularly)

And yarn. Lots and lots of yarn.

FabFitFifties · 28/08/2022 23:17

Earrings, dresses, bags.

HermoineJeanGranger · 28/08/2022 23:20

I recently received some birthday money and instead of using it to buy house decor, or put it all away in savings..... I said stuff it and spent some on myself for a change!! i bought myself a candle from a little boutique store, a new book and some Adidas shoes 🥳

GrandSlamFinalee · 28/08/2022 23:23

Travel. Always lots of travel.

Failing that, food. I have a couple of favourite restaurants and takeaways to choose from. And dresses - I love new dresses.

PetalParty · 29/08/2022 01:12

Liqueurs - fruity creamy ones, looking forward to trying a melon one from Amazon if I’ve been a good girl
Matching bedding - sales and has miraculously lasted 15 years and has more than paid for itself
Cake
Naice bread
Clinique moisturiser
Plants and pots - a bit addicted
Reed diffuser
Go for a cocktail solo and people watch
Explore on my own somewhere I haven’t been before in my city

CheshireSplat · 29/08/2022 01:18

I've been given £50 by my mum to treat me (just me) on holiday and of course I haven't used it just for me, but for all the family. So I'm thinking about booking a horse ride along the beach in September....😍. Is there something you used to love as a child or teen that would bring you the same joy?

katscamel · 29/08/2022 05:58

A day by the sea with a good book, coffee and cake ....ok a maybe a cocktail or 2.

Clarins Blue Orchid oil,
A new perfume
Facial
Massage
Travel .....
Chocolate truffles
M&s nibbly bits

Mummadeze · 29/08/2022 06:09

Three new novels from WH Smith. I usually go to the library but choosing and treating myself to new books is more special.
A lunch out in a brand new restaurant on my own with cuisine I have never tried before. Went for Korean recently for example and got them to recommend what I should have.
A solo swim in the leisure centre, without kids.
Definitely a massage, couple of times a year as a treat. Feels very indulgent but good.
My dream though is to go on an overnight stay on my own in a City with a big shopping centre and just have a day to myself to get my hair and nails done and buy some new clothes. I know this is normal for some people but it would be a huge indulgence/treat for me. One day!

😂

I like the time to myself too. Baths. An afternoon nap. A bottle of nice wine and time to drink it with a book.

Getting stuck into a T V series.

Some really unhealthy, crappy food (cheese toasties made in a pan) as I usually really try to eat healthily.

New pjamas. Sometimes I indulge and have expensive ones, sometimes they're from a supermarket or similar, make me equally happy!

TravellingSpoon · 29/08/2022 06:26

Nee Pyjamas, they just make me feel happy even if its ones I have picked up from Sainsburys.
