I just can't do it anymore. I keep falling off the wagon after a couple of months. It's such a slow process. I'm either on or off with it and it's so exhausting when I'm on.

Does anyone have any advice how they overcame this ?

I've lost weight before. But for around 2 years now, I just keep falling off the wagon.

My baby is 4 months. I am definitely having a tummy tuck from my two pregnancies. I can't wear anything, it's so depressing. I would like to lose weight before tummy tuck though. I will probably get a tummy tuck next summer I think.

Back to losing weight. It's so slow and so painful. I keep losing hope I'll ever be able to get there.

Anyone had this mental barrier ?

You either want to lose weight or you don’t. You know what you need to do to lose it. You just need to find your motivation. Take baby for walks, walk fast for 1 minute then slower for 1 minute - get your heart beating and your lungs working. Grab fruit not sweets.

If your not motivated or in the right head space to lose weight then it becomes very difficult. I’ve been there and it is depressing.

you also had a baby four months ago and you’re hormones etc are probably all over the place.

maybe put the tummy tuck on the back burner for now, relieve a bit of pressure on yourself and focus on yourself for a while. Introduce change gradually, up the walking and swapping biscuits etc for fruit.

I know it’s hard, I lost a lot of weight four years ago then last year my dh died and I’ve put it all back on. I’ve tried sw, ww to no avail so now I’m just concentrating on walking more (good for mental health as well) and eating my five a day and cutting out sugary snacks.

Forget diets, they're short-term. Think long-term lifestyle changes, what you do needs to be manageable all the time, that's why a lot of people struggle with diets and often end up back on them, they're just not sustainable long term.
Long-term, it may take it longer to come off, but the right changes, manageable ones, you're more likely to stick to, eventually, start to lose it, and maintain it.
What those changes are will depend on you, what your habits are, and whether you want to start changing them over time and persevering with it.
Sadly I don't think there's a magical way of doing it you just need to find the motivation and the desire to just start tweaking here and there and chipping away at it a little at a time.

I like the podcast 'We Only Look Thin' - I will often listen to a couple of episodes of that and find my motivation. Or browsing the motivation forums at MyFitnessPal. Just having a sense that other people are doing the same thing and having the same struggles tends to help me.

Hi, OP

Like other posters say, you need to see it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet.

If your heart isn't in it , then it won't work for you. Trust me, l have been in your situation so many times. I finally broke the cycle and realised l could make changes without having to starve, deprive or torture myself.

How are you "falling off the wagon"? Is it that you're keeping the wrong foods in your house that you end up snacking on..or is it ordering food?
Or are you eating the "right" foods but struggle with portions?

Best to find out exactly where you fall...then you can put things in place to help that. Is it usually night time where you fall off or all through the day?

Firstly as a PP mentioned, 4 months post partum is early days and you need to be kind to yourself!
Diet/exercise changes for weight loss is hard to keep up because the results are so slow, willpower on its own doesn't last that long. Can you look at the changes from a more positive light - eg rather than thinking about cutting out foods or exercise to burn calories, think about the nutrition you'll get from food, how a healthy meal will make you feel, how a walk will clear your head etc? You need to see a positive in what actions you're trying to switch to if you're going to keep it up for any length of time.
