Definitely hedrin liquid.

JazzHandsYeah · 28/08/2022 13:21

Yep I agree, Hedrin is great, we used the gel spray and combed through every day until none were visible. But you must also make sure you wash all bedding, towels, pillows etc, to get rid of any rogue eggs.

Depends on hair length - easier on shorter hair ( long experience with boys and girls with nits)
but the cheapest conditioner and a nit comb worked best

labour intensive as you need to do this daily and gross but worked best.
or baby oil instead of conditioner - something to do with the molecules of oil being a good size to suffocate the nits

Iliketeaagain · 28/08/2022 13:35

All the above, plus hoover the hair / scalp on the lowest suction setting.
Sounds ridiculous, but when I looked at some of the nit removal services, they have what looks like a vacuum cleaner for heads..

And it worked on dd when nothing else did after treatment, conditioner and nit comb.

But you need to make sure the suction is low enough that it doesn't scalp them.

Combing every other day. Cheapest conditioner. Loads of it so the hair is really slippery. And patience!

Lotions and mousses have their place, but it’s the combing that removes the lice.

Not had to buy for many years, but talk to the pharmacist. I think the treatments alternate to avoid the itchy little buggers becoming immune to one of the treatments

Robekinobi · 28/08/2022 13:40

Nitty Gritty, conditioner if early stages, Nitwits if infested.

IggyAce · 28/08/2022 13:43

Nitty gritty comb and cheap conditioner. My dcs have eczema and any of the solutions irritated it.

feckoffbrian · 28/08/2022 13:43

Use the nitty gritty comb every single day.

Take cuddly toys out of the beds and also change pillowcases, washing cushions, hats etc.

It's labour intensive but lice solution alone will not solve the issue.

i have been treating my daughter all summer holidays. I’ve tried 2 different lotions and now I’m just putting conditioner on and using a nitty gritty comb every couple of days and this is working much better.
by the time you’ve used the other stuff it makes the hair so greasy and takes about a week of washing to get back to normal and then you realise there must have still been a live egg and they’ve laid again so you have to start from the beginning. It’s been doing my head in.

This,y hairdrsssers said exactly this and it's brilliant - never needed head lice lotions again

Hedrin Once suffocates them, so no way they can become immune. Either formulation of this is fine.

shedwithivy · 28/08/2022 14:30

I like vamousse as it's easier to apply and doesn't leave hair greasy for days
