To have stood on this woman’s driveway?

my dog is a rescue who is scared of and can be aggressive towards other dogs. I normally walk him in quiet areas/streets with wide pavements but today had to walk down a busy road with a narrow pavement (quiet road I normally use was closed by police).
Someone with a dog came out of their house and was walking towards me. My dog would have gone crazy (growling barking snapping and being very distressed) if he had to pass so close to another dog and I couldn’t cross the road due to cars. So I stepped a couple of metres onto the driveway of the house I was walking past, told my dog to sit and have him some treats while the other dog walked past. I was on the driveway for 15-20 seconds and as I was stepping back onto the pavement a woman came out of the house shouting “ER EXCUSE ME WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING” and started having a go at me telling me I was trespassing on private land and entitled and something about the “cheek of it”. I was baffled and said “I’m sorry I just needed to avoid another dog for a few seconds” then walked away. She shouted after “we’ve got CCTV you know”. AIBU to think she was batshit/unbelievably uptight/just looking for a fight and I didn’t do anything wrong?

I did exactly the same thing the other evening although I also hid behind the RR on the drive..no one either saw me or challenged me..ridiculous woman..there's a lot of them about these days sadly.

She has probably had loads of people let there dog poo on her driveway its nasty tbh I got shouted at for the same thing as a child walking my family dog my response that there was no grass there didn't help as she didn't know ddog NEVER peed or pooped unless there was grass her tarmac was totally safe 🤣

The most "little England " comment I've heard in a while. What a strange way to live.

Agree...some people are anal nuts

As long as you weren’t leaving a little present behind then I honestly wouldn’t care

Is it just dogs or do you shoo away birds, foxes and hedgehogs too? Maybe rain would like to fall elsewhere. Don't get me started on uninvited road dust and if litter dare blow onto your driveway I hope you give that wind a good telling off 🙄

😂

SplashparkSummer · 27/08/2022 15:26

It's necessary to briefly step onto a drive sometimes to let others pass for whatever reason. YANBU

It’s private land. I don’t want dogs on my drive, thanks, aggressive or peaceful.
think we found her^^

😂

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/08/2022 15:27

Ignore, she possibly thought your dog was weeing/pooing, or is some overdramatic MN who will shortly be posting about the person lurking with a dog who was obviously casing her house for a later burglary, posing as a dog walker.

She probably never answers her door but then has to post on MN to ask who we all think may have been at the door, and similarly, hides her phone under the mattress when it rings, and then asks everyone else who may have been on the phone rather than simply answer it...

Please also ignore stupid comments about muzzling your reactive dog so that you can force them into situations they can't handle - im sure you know this but for the benefit of those who don't - that makes matters worse, not better.

Can’t imagine getting that stressed about having to look at a dog out of my window for a few seconds even if I hated them. I can understand being annoyed IF they’ve done a poo but no need to get worked up when they are clearly leaving and there is no poo. What other damage could a dog possibly do in a few seconds.

@Augustwine I do this all the time as my dog has for some reason turned into a reactive twat.

I did have a pop though at a fella walking his dog who threw poo bags into my green bin. I made him take them out.

bloodyplanes · 27/08/2022 15:34

She completely overreacted! It wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

loudbatperson · 27/08/2022 15:38

She did overact.

However we have had issues recently with a local owner who lets his dog empty his bowels in us and our neighbours front garden/drives and not picking the mess up.

Maybe she has had a similar experience and jumped to a conclusion, and even after you explained did what many people do, double down instead of admitting they were wrong .

Salamamca · 27/08/2022 15:42

YANBU … unless you’re going to drop feed that your dog sprayed diarrhoea all over her driveway … in which case I can understand her being a bit pissed off.

My dog did similar once, we were walking along a brand new path (builders still working on parts of it) and my dog suddenly had diarrhoea. I was mortified, tried to scrape it up with my poo bags but it was just smearing everywhere, I picked up what I could but there was literally nothing I could do about the massive smear. I walked off with my head down and a builder passed me, looked at the smear then looked at me and laughed. That made me laugh. Not ideal.

DelorisVC · 27/08/2022 15:42

I bet she’s a MNer.

Deliverooaddict · 27/08/2022 15:57

are you getting help for your anxiety, OP?
