To wonder why service is SO bad?

Just a few examples of things that happened to me recently

  • Messaged two women on Facebook about an eyebrow treatment. Both ignored me and they both claimed they’d been on holiday (didn’t put a post up to say this.)
  • Had a hair consultation and I was sat in the waiting room for 29 minutes. Until I was told front desk hadn’t bothered to inform the hairdresser I’d arrived.
  • Called up to book a consultation at a different hairdresser. The girl answered and said why don’t I just do it online. Then claimed the Wi-Fi was really and and she’d call me back to book and then didn’t bother.

This was just this month. I’m genuinely nothing but nice and polite.

Maybe it’s just me who gets bad service but you’d think self employed people would want customers.

I find this with travel agents. Quite happy to get the booking and take a deposit on a holiday costing thousands of pounds. Booking over phone. When the info came through several issues about rooms booked were wrong. General attitude oh no need to change they will sort when you get there. Er no. I want the paperwork right. If it is and they have placed you in wrong rooms and you have the paperwork to prove it you have a lot more chance of getting it sorted quickly and pleasantly. If you just hope for the best .. invariably when you get there nothing can be changed . Especially in high season. If I'm paying thousands for a few days away I want what I've paid for I don't want anything left to chance but when you ring to rectify mistakes they want you off the phone pdq so they can concentrate on selling another package.

I’ve given up expecting a decent level of customer service anywhere. I do understand and completely sympathise with people working in retail, restaurants etc where the pay is barely enough to get by and maybe I’d behave in the same way if I were in there shoes.

We recently stayed in a hotel and had a waitress reminiscent of Manuel from Fawlty Towers. At dinner I ordered a glass of red wine and she brought me a glass of white. She then came back with a glass of Rosé. When I again asked her to change it she refused and rudely insisted it was red. I held up the glass of light pink wine and asked her if it looked like a full bodied Merlot and she nodded yes and walked away. The couple at the table next to us actually started laughing. I had to leave dinner, go to the bar and ask the manager to give me the correct drink. He did so whilst the waitress watched without offering a word of apology. The manager shrugged and said “she’s training at the moment” which is fine but she actually poured my drink from a bottle marked ‘Rosé’

I wrote on another thread about the delivery man from AO who came to my house with a new cooker and then refused to bring it into the house because he had a strained shoulder. I asked why he’d bothered coming if he was unable to lift the item and he had no response, just replied that I needed to call Customer Services and schedule a new delivery date. In the end my partner and a neighbour managed to carry the cooker into the house whilst the delivery man and his colleague stood in the garden staring at their phones😕

I guess it’s basic economics - supply and demand. If they are in high demand they don’t need to worry so much about keeping customers happy. You seem very angry about it all, maybe you should try going self employed and make a better businesses than the competition…

Comments like this annoy me because it’s such a dick move “you seem very angry”. Honestly just a way to make yourself feel superior. Grow up.

I had some treatments booked to go away recently. Was there 5 hours. The person before me hadn't been done yet do we were over 2.5 hours late starting ours it was passed my DD bedtime by the time I got her home.
I'd promised her nails so couldn't leave but I'll never go there again it was absolutely ridiculous.

I don't know! Peeve last week was trying to refer an employee for a specialist occupational health assessment costing £2k. I've left messages 3 times ( no one picking the phone up) and am now sourcing other providers but as irs fairly specialised not sure where else to go.
