The other thread is about to reach 1,000. Not sure how to link this thread to that one?

I think its dependent on where you eating .

Kids make noise but there's an acceptable amount noise in restaurants

Wetherspoons
Hungry horse (shudder)
Beefeater
Harvester
Any where kids eat free. I (actively avoid these ,I'm not subsidising other peoples kids)

Either way kids shouldnt be running around.

unless your kids can sit at a table and behave, dont inflict them on others trying to have a good night out

I’m so with you on the “kids eat free” nonsense. I just booked a premier inn for a business trip in November and was thinking to myself how I hadn’t had a breakfast there in years. Looked up the prices and saw that “Kids eat free” just fuck off then Premier Inn, I’ve changed my stay to Jurys. I subsidise enough for kids with taxes

How could it be easily resolved? We asked the parents twice to being the child back to their table to no avail. What were we supposed to do about that and the other issues,? Genuine question.

Again, I was simply saying why I think a third of people may think you were unreasonable based on your OP, which does not contain the additional information. On a 1000 post thread, most people voting will only read the OP.

If you want to eat out with children, teach them how to behave in restaurants. Are three have eaten out a lot since a young age. They were used to it. After a break for covid, we were surprised the first time we took then back to a restaurant as they just weren't as well behaved. However by the next month we took them to a very nice London restaurant for a special occasion and they sat amazingly. We briefed them before going on what a nice place it is and only usually for adults so they just behave.

If any of them have cried or tantrumEd, whatever the restaurant, we have removed them and only brought them back when they can calm down.

We had this. Happily eating out with our children since the eldest was a baby and very rarely any issues. We were often complimented on their behaviour by other diners and staff. Then after a long break during covid, our first meal out was a nightmare. Both DH and I were quite taken aback. And this was despite eating nearly everyday as a family during lockdown. Thankfully they were old enough by then to quickly relearn restaurant etiquette.

@AmeliaBee Why were you staring at her boob for half an hour 😂😂???? It must have been VERY high end, as you put it in capitals!!!!!! (Note the exclamation marks) ......not heard 'natch' since like...the 90's, nice to reminisce 😄

I'd leave. I'd let the restaurant know why too. It's not my job to keep my wits about me in case some "spirited" child wants to interact.
I've become braver as I've got older. If you or yours inconvenience me, I'll make it your business to deal with it.
I appreciate its not a restaurant's fault if a group has no manners, but if it loses them money, maybe they'll start dealing with it.
I don't go to places like pizza express and nandos because I'm not interested in screeching and sticky hands.
