Money matters - how to split utilities bills ?

My husband and I moved to a new place, I bought the house with my inheritance and savings and now pay the full mortgage myself. I just found out that my husband has put my account on all utilities bills as well ( as opposed to our join account that we both pay into for kids expenses, groceries, days out, etc ).

Aibu to expect him to contribute to utilities ? I'm struggling to have anything left after paying for mortgage, utilities and joint account contribution.

The bills are the least of your problems. Go and see a solicitor quick and try and protect your assets.

Well I had a husband like this and also bought the house using the equity from a house I owned. I was glad to have control over the bills because I could make sure they were paid on time. He was less reliable. We divorced and he got half the house. DON’T make the mistake I did, OP! I believe if you divorce after a short marriage - less than 7yrs - you may be able to keep most of your equity. The longer you are mugged off the more he can keep. Get out NOW!
