Is anyone actually fixing their fuel prices at these exorbitant prices? We have been quoted over £699 per month for dual fuel with Scottish Power.
Or are people just not fixing and going to use less??
Really stuck with what to do!

That's a very long process, they try and sort out a repayment plan before they do any of that. I had ongoing issues for 3 years with underpaying my energy and it didn't go to court or have bailiffs round. My credit rating was terrible but it's now at "fair" a few years later.

I agree, but I dont want a terrible credit rating, or even a 'fair' one, it limits you for all sorts of things

We're still on variable, currently it's £100 less a month than the cheapest fix. I'm confused about whether this will be the other way around in October?

No one does, but if it's a choice between a bad credit score or your kids freezing many people will choose the former. Many people who are in poverty now are more concerned about survival than their credit score.

Couldn't afford the extra £330 even if I wanted to fix, just trying to cut down usage and hope there will be some intervention

This.

There will have to be some intervention. Schools, hospitals etc won’t be able to pay their bills.

Something will be done.

If you have a smart meter they can put it on to prepayment at the flick of a switch. They may not take you to court but they can do that. If people simply cannot afford to top up their meter they will have no energy. None. The cost of topping up will simply be out of reach to many people.

I didn't have one at the time. I had a complex meter and fitting a prepayment meter wasn't possible. But yes, it's a possibility for those with smart meters.
