Arggghhhh!!!!

I really want to smash the thing!! Why does it have to have a low battery in the middle of the night????

DH has just gone out to try and find a shop open, it's 2am so going to be a while 😫

You could have just taken the battery out till a respectful time to go out.

NuffSaidSam · 21/08/2022 02:25

If it's just one, take the battery out and replace tomorrow.

TheManSellsFish · 21/08/2022 02:26

Those beeps are so loud - sympathies.

Sarahzb · 21/08/2022 02:29

It's for your safety. Irritating I know. I've had it - which bugger is it coming from?

Mooovingonout · 21/08/2022 02:34

Ahh didn't think of just leaving it apart without the battery till the morning. Ffs that would have been easier.

It's the alarm right outside my bedroom door. Two of my teens are sleeping through the noise - no idea how

ours are the newer kind that are also wired. They keep beeping when you take the battery out.

they Always go off at 2am. I learned that has to do with temperature. It’s not imagination and frustration.

I finally replaced all of them with 10 year versions.

LondonQueen · 21/08/2022 03:03

Do you have other smoke detectors? Please don't go back to sleep with no smoke detectors working. You might not wake up again.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 21/08/2022 03:40

It could also be dusty. Give it a vacuum or a squirt with a can of air.

TinaYouFatLard · 21/08/2022 04:27

Massive sympathy. This happened to me at 4am one time. The beeping doesn’t stop if you remove the battery. My smoke alarms are really bloody awkward to remove as well. I was up a stepladder in tears trying to sort it out. Miserable (but necessary, of course).

NiteWotcha · 21/08/2022 04:44

Is this you? Grin

Mooovingonout · 21/08/2022 09:16

After changing two batteries out of the three alarms we have it finally stopped beeping Smile

Now I'm off for a 12 hour shift with lots of coffee

@NiteWotcha that was me shouting at the damn thing!!

I understand they're life saving but when that bloody beeping wouldn't stop 😡

Just take the battery out, for God's sake. We use rechargeable batteries.

And died in a fire?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/08/2022 09:28

I can't believe you just didn't yank the batteries out 🤣

WhereToGoFromHere33 · 21/08/2022 09:59

And died in a fire?

Not exactly sure what the odds would be of the OP dying in a fire, between 2am and 7am-ish, in the potentially only night in her life she's minus one fire alarm... 🤔

I'd have took the risk I think 😁

Cervinia · 21/08/2022 10:06

Oh god yes. Mine are mains connected too and still beep when the battery is removed. The worst part is that despite them supposedly taking a 9V battery, only the Ever Ready ones will fit, Duracell seem like a couple of mm too big and won't slot in, so I have to keep the ER ones in the cupboard just in case as they are not as readily available.
