Is this the flu? It's horrific

I've got no other symptoms other than -

My legs and lower back feel like they're 'sleeping'

My entire body feels plagued with severe fatigue and I'm so tired!

Nothing else going on. And I haven't checked changed my diet or activity levels.

Anyone know if this is what flu can be like?

I'm so so exhausted it's beyond belief. My bones feel like they're starving to just sleep for a month

Flu or Covid? Viruses certainly make you very fatigued.

KangarooKenny · 20/08/2022 07:37

With flu I’d expect a barking cough, fever and wanting to die.

greenacrylicpaint · 20/08/2022 07:38

take a covid test

Ushkin · 20/08/2022 07:40

Presumably you’ve done a covid test?

fufflecake · 20/08/2022 07:47

Could be. Could be covid

cheaplyormeek · 20/08/2022 07:56

My temp is 37.7.

I don't have any cough or cold.

I had Covid 9 weeks ago? If that helps. I took a test only because my daughter had an operation and I had to prove I didn't have Covid. I did so it was delayed a week and a half. Never felt unwell - lost my sense of smell for a week and then right as rain

OP posts:
ofwarren · 20/08/2022 07:57

Could be long covid

cheaplyormeek · 20/08/2022 07:58

Getting up and moving honestly makes me want to cry. I'm so so fatigued I cannot take it

Never known anything like it in my life! DD is going to the beach today and I'm almost in tears trying to brush my hair I feel so unwell, I'm thinking of asking my mum to just take her (she's going with a group of family)

Vitamin D deficiency gives symptoms like you described. And B12 deficiency.

When is the last time you had your thyroid checked?

Denny53 · 20/08/2022 07:59

If you had Covid 9 weeks ago you’ve probably got long Covid. I had same symptoms when I had long covid.

BruisedSkies · 20/08/2022 07:59

long covid? I felt like that when I had ME. I’d go and see a doc tho to rule out anything else

Thank you - I have never had my thyroid checked I don't think? I'm fairly young, 24

I thought if it was long Covid, actual Covid would've made me unwell? Yet I just lose my sense of smell and then it came back - no issues at all. Why would I suddenly get so unwell 9 weeks on?

OP posts:
fufflecake · 20/08/2022 08:01

Yup sounds like my lasting covid symptoms. They don't class it as long covid until 12 weeks where I am. Worth contacting your doctor though they might do some blood tests to see if you have any vitamin deficiency.

fufflecake · 20/08/2022 08:02

My actual covid was fairly mild. It takes a while for your body to readjust

ArcticSkewer · 20/08/2022 08:02

Covid again, probably - a re-exposure that's triggered your immune system to go into overdrive. Might not show up on a test as it's your body fighting it off.

Happens to me a lot now. Agony for a few days. If it clears up in a few days it's probably that. Obviously if it continues, then GP blood tests etc in case it's something else

This started last Friday night so it's been just over a week now

37.7 is just on the cusp of a fever which to me would suggest your body is actively trying to fight something off at the moment and not long covid!
I has flu 4 years ago and have had covid 3 times... the flu was far the worst, I seriously thought I was close to dying (although I clearly wasn't, it just felt that way!)

Kingstonmumof1 · 20/08/2022 08:04

You can get covid again after 9 weeks, I'd test if i were you just to rule it out.

cheaplyormeek · 20/08/2022 08:24

Thank you! I will test again. My mum has some tests from work

I feel so unwell that my imagination for the better of me really. I was brushing my teeth and it bloody hurt - just because it's so sore everywhere and aches

I thought to myself oh what if it's serious? What if you're going to die!

Bloody daft as I'm not one to be unwell ever really Apart from having my gallbladder removed at age 21

When my DD has her surgery, they told me not to test if I had Covid within the last 3 months as it would probably be a false positive?

OP posts:
Seeline · 20/08/2022 08:28

That's for PCR tests. Lateral flows are fine.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/08/2022 08:29

Ds has Covid pretty mildly last year but then caught a really bad virus which laid him low for nearly a month. I imagine as your immune system is so low your susceptible to everything going.

DangerouslyBored · 20/08/2022 08:29

It could be Covid again, reinfection period is much shorter with Omicron

cheaplyormeek · 20/08/2022 08:30

CiderWithLizzie · 20/08/2022 08:32

My DD tested positive for 3 months on lateral flow tests, so it’s not just PCRs.
