Um you could try Simple Solution from a petshop, and/or bio washing powder/fluid, but....

Badger1970 · 16/08/2022 09:25

Have you got accidental damage cover on your insurance? I'd check that out as they may arrange a professional clean for you.

But if it's gone into the foam/padding, you don't stand a prayer. Unless its the seat or back cushions, in which case you can replace them.

AntlerRose · 16/08/2022 09:31

Its incredibly difficult.

Have you tried the bicarb of soda, white vinegar method. It worked best on our kids mattress.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 16/08/2022 09:35

Can you get inside the sofa at all? To clean it from the inside eg framework and to put something inside to absorb the smells eg a nutradol air freshener pot or some scrunched up newspaper or a pot of bicarb or a tub of fresh cat litter will all work.

BronzeSage · 16/08/2022 09:35

Bicarbonate of soda

Threelittlelambs · 16/08/2022 09:36

There are sprays for this, like PP said in the pets isle.

golddustwomen · 16/08/2022 09:39

I can’t get inside the sofa at all and can’t take the covers off. Fuck fuck fuck. I have bicarb of soda in but no white vinegar. Will go and get some this morning!

Bicarb of soda. Chuck it liberally over the offending area, leave a few hours and then vacuum up. But you might be too late, you really need to do it when it’s still wet. Still worth a shot though!

confusedlots · 16/08/2022 09:42

There's specialist stuff you get for cat urine. My cat peed all over the sofa and it stank and I got a specialist cleaning company out to clean it. They left me some extra of the cleaning stuff in case it happened again. I can't remember the name of it but you can probably buy similar in pet shops. It completely got rid of the smell, which was awful.

Danikm151 · 16/08/2022 09:42

Wee away pet spray, it neutralises the smell

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 16/08/2022 09:43

Can you not cut an neat access hole from underneath? I get that you don’t want to do that - but if the sofa is potentially ruined ….
and no one sees the underneath. You might need help tipping the sofa over on its back.

fyn · 16/08/2022 09:45

We use the stuff for dogs from the pet shop for our potty training toddler, seems to do the trick. You need an enzyme cleaner, not bicarb.

coldandverytired · 16/08/2022 09:45

simple solution, soak the area and leave to dry naturally (might take a few days).

There are sprays and powders in the simple solution range but the liquid is probably your best bet so that it gets through to anywhere that got soaked.

Good luck.

golddustwomen · 16/08/2022 09:45

Right have threw bicarb all over it and also ordered some wee away on a same day delivery. The sofa was new this year Sad

Another one saying get to a pet shop. They’ll have stuff that’s specifically designed to destroy the composition of what releases the smell.

if the sofa is suitable maybe it’s worth investigating hiring a carpet washer or professional deep clean.

boingy · 16/08/2022 10:00

So glad this post is on here today. Currently away in a rented cottage and my DS has peed on the couch!!
Gonna nip to the local pet store!

DeclineandFall · 16/08/2022 10:01

Simple solution.Works on human, wee, poo, vomit just as well as animals. It's a god send when you have young kids.

Cornettoninja · 16/08/2022 10:03

Just a word of warning - don’t get the shake’n’vac style deodoriser. It hangs around forever and is a really obnoxiously strong smell.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 16/08/2022 10:33

Simple solution is brilliant.

Isonthecase · 16/08/2022 10:52

The best thing you can do is whack a load of cleaner on it and leave it out in the sun, something about being a natural antibacterial or something (I don't know the details). Alternative is professional cleaning (£100ish) but really the cleaner and airing combo has worked just as well for us after various potty training incidents.
