… to eat the chicken?

Quick straw poll - bought a garlic & herb spatchcock chicken from the reduced section at the CoOp yesterday with yesterdays date on but didn’t get around to cooking it.
What would you do?
YANBU - cook & eat it today, you’ll be fine.
YABU - cook it and feed it to the pets, it’s not worth the risk

How does it smell?

WheresMyAlex · 15/08/2022 15:32

Smells fine, but the garlicky herbs could be masking it?

I would eat it provided it looks and smells OK and hadn't spent hours in your car after buying it.

It's not going to turn bad at one minute after midnight after all when it technically goes out of date.

Start cooking it. Off chicken gives a vile smell when it starts cooking

Dartmoorcheffy · 15/08/2022 15:34

It will be absolutely fine if its been kept cold.

WheresMyAlex · 15/08/2022 15:35

I agree, and I do the same. It’s only because it’s chicken I’m hesitant. But it seems such a waste. I’ll cook it, let’s just hope my gravestone doesn’t read ‘She shouldn’t have eaten the chicken’ 😅

Yup eat it. I'd given chicken two days past date unless it looks or smells off. Cook it through.

Fab guys thanks, I needed the reassurance!
