To ask about your second job

Not an aibu, posting for traffic.
Do you have a 2nd job, on top of having a full time time job?
Do you do it on weekdays or weekends only?
I’d like to have one but don’t know where to start.

How do you fit yours in? Is it worth it to you?

Yes, I have an ad-hoc second job. I teach full time but tutor in the evenings (hit and miss, can get busy from January - May). I also exam mark in the summer and when I can, I teach English to foreign children - usually Russians so obviously this year that’s not happening. Yes, it is worth it although I do a lot of muttering over the tax return on the self employed earnings.

I also have an ad-hoc second job. I answer text messages on a psychic/tarot line. I just log into the portal and see what work is available and get going. No need to be psychic or be any good at tarot. They pay 30p a message Mon-Fri and 36p a message Sat and Sun. Very easy.

Hiya

I have a second job as bank staff in a mental health care home.

I book myself 1x8hr shift per month at least, and in comes £90 on the 21st. I do more if I need more.

I like the place and the people. It's nice to dip into and not be that invested. I also like the cash and the ability to earn extra where needed.

The downside is the guilt when I say no to more shifts as they're often short.

Thank you everyone for replying. I’m sorry I went awol. I was in a location with very dodgy reception and I struggled to reply.
@Ithinkthatisenoughnowthanks , I’ve a QTS but didn’t do my NQT year. Do you think I could still get tutoring roles?

@ClottedCreamAndStrawberries , how do you answer if you’re not good at tarrot? Does someone help you?

@something2say , are you a trained nurse or did they give you training beforehand?

There are plenty of pub jobs around here but I worry, I’d be rubbish at it.

Anyone can tutor, there are zero requirements. You just need a parent willing to give you a go. Most tutoring at secondary is exam-based so you would need to be sure of exam requirements to do a half decent job. Exam board websites are a mine of information. I find on the whole that parents don’t particularly question qualifications or experience, but I work in a local private school and I think that is often enough for them to assume I know what I’m doing. It took me several months to find an English tutor for my son that Inwas happy with - but I know what I want to see in a tutor and what I expect their response to be to my questions.

Yes, I'm a group fitness instructor. Some classes in the evening, some morning before work and I take some substitute classes on weekends and lunchtime when I feel like it and have time.

Not for cash really, it normally only pays a few hundred per month, but I enjoy it and if I teach, I can't just decide that ah I can't be arsed to go.

I work 34 hours per week for a charity in a Personal Wellbeing role, two hours per week as a Counsellor in private practice, one hour per week as a Volunteer Counsellor for a Counselling Service and six hours per week as a Housekeeper.
