Where do old people go dancing?

OK, I'm not that old at 38, but if I was to head out to a club, I'll certainly be old enough to be the mother of the youngsters in it.

I've been inspired by all the ibiza threads, and I just really want to go dancing. There's something about feeling the music pulse through my chest. Dancing the night away, getting lost in the music...AIBU to want that?

So where does one of an older age go?

Here maybe? Glitterball

Whereabouts do you live ? Loads of cracking nights down here where dancing is very much encouraged. Ska, Northern Soul, Rockabilly, jive, Indie , Club . Not strictly for oldies like me (52) as younger folk do go but more if you are into the music.

Does your local theatre do music nights? Ours does - like tribute acts like Abba or Elvis etc - great fun

Defected event??

out local music venue does like a Jo Wiley 90s evening and a local stately home near us did a day time rave that was more aimed at an older crowd.

Weddings. I always get the dance floor going at a wedding 🤣

These kinds of places - www.haventstoppeddancingyet.co.uk/

And sometimes in the same places they went dancing when younger. In my northern hometown, it's still the same generation going out dancing in pubs and clubs. The younger ones don't bother so much.

Festivals too - lots of 'family friendly' opportunities for the parents to go wild while the kids toddle or tolerate, e.g. in your neck of the woods -

All of this. I'm 62

I've never been into clubs - live music is my thing, particularly punk, ska, rock and some indie. So I'd say go to gigs. It doesn't need to be big name acts - local bands or tribute acts can be brilliant. I'm 37 and am regularly down the front in the mosh pit at local punk gigs 😆

Also if dance music or pop is more your thing, maybe have a look into local gay bars/clubs? They tend to be a bit more inclusive and friendly with a wider age range rather than a load of teenagers!

ShinyMe · 12/08/2022 19:56

Look into ceroc and modern jive. It's social, easy, lots of fun, and very lacking in teeny young things.

What is it with 30-somethings on this site talking about themselves as if they're older than the pyramids?!
