To give another round of antibiotics to my 15 month old?

I'm stuck with what to do and wanting some opinions...

My 15 month old has been poorly for almost two weeks now, started with classic cold and then last week symptoms worsened and we ended up in a&e at 10pm one night because her temp was 39 and not coming down with calpol or nurofen and breathing rate was 60 per min (advised to go by 111) they examined her and said she had chest infection and prescribed antibiotics for 5 days. She was getting better but still had cold symptoms when course ended on Monday. Since then everyday she has been getting worse again, her cough was really bad yday and making her miserable so went back to GP who was very vague. He said it's impossible to know if what she has is viral or bacterial. He examined her and said although the cough is worse she is ok in herself and no fever so said maybe not to give another course of antibiotics but he would give me a script for them anyway 'just incase' and sort of left it up to me.

Today her cough is slightly better but she now has a fever starting again. I feel completely drained by this illness, I have no idea if it's the same illness or she's got another one on top of last weeks. I have another 5 day course of antibiotics here would I be unreasonable to give her another course? What would you do?

I'd give them. The doctor thought that it might be necessary and the symptoms are back.

I would take her back to the hospital, is she drinking and having wet nappies.

I would follow the medical advice of the qualified medical professional.

Ring the GP and/or 111 and get some more advice given her change in symptoms.

So not to give them then but then why did he give me a script for some more 'just incase'?

She isn't poorly enough to go to hospital she's eating and drinking and I have got her temp down with calpol. I just don't want things to get worse again if I can prevent them now. I just worry because she's been poorly for so long now and I don't want to put her body through anymore. The doctor was very vague and said 'it's common for them to get poorly all the time and it's impossible to know if it's viral or bacterial' so it's hard for him to say what to do for best.

It is much safer to either call the gp or 111 for advice, we can't really advise you here
