DH: you never do anything with the DC. You never take them out etc etc.
Later from DH: Im working from home tomorrow (I.e. today) and Wednesday. Is that ok?
Me: yes, that's fine. We're going to the lido tomorrow.

This morning as I'm making a picnic
DH: what are you doing?
Me: making lunch. You're on your own! We're meeting friends there, be back mid afternoon. And we're going out with your mum tomorrow.

He's now super annoyed he has to sort his own lunch for both days he's wfh and we (I) won't be home to cook!

I'm going out anyway and leaving him to it but please tell me I'm not alone in having a totally illogical DH!

He's a complete muppet. Does he want you to wipe his arse for him too?

OnlyEverAutumn · 09/08/2022 08:31

Does he expect you to feed him every day? 😱

devildeepbluesea · 09/08/2022 08:32

That’s not illogical it’s selfish and entitled. I’d be winning this particular bout by telling him to act his age or fuck off.

KangarooKenny · 09/08/2022 08:32

Why would you make his lunch ? Does he not have hands ?

pictish · 09/08/2022 08:32

I hope you allowed your gaze to sweep over him with disinterest while you continued preparing for your day.
He can get his own bloody lunch. Ffs. How pathetic.

Eiapopeia · 09/08/2022 08:34

It is true that you can't win. Can you not tell him to go and work away from home? That would solve the lunch problem. I'd have been divorced within weeks if my husband had been working from home.

HannahSternDefoe · 09/08/2022 08:36

Leave him a pot noodle and a fork with written instructions on how to boil the kettle. Grin

Have a lovely day today and see what suggestions his mum has for him tomorrow. Wink

Does anyone remember that episode of the Simpsons when they stay at the Flanders' (holiday?) home? The wife had put post-it notes everywhere with instructions on how to use literally everything.

Icecube tray - post-it says 'Fill me'. Marge rolls her eyes and says, 'Well duh. With what Maude?' Second post-it underneath says, 'with water' Grin

Do that!!

itsgettingweird · 09/08/2022 08:42

Yes illogical!

And I'm even more impressed your going out with MIL without him. Grin

StandUpPirates · 09/08/2022 08:43

I did. And told him if he was going to the shop to pick up a loaf of bread.

He is not without transport and there is even a small corner shop 3 minutes on foot. And you'd think wfh without the DC would be preferable to wfh with the DC. He wfh two days a week but not always the same (or most convenient) 2 days.

That's not illogic OP.
It's entitlement, & pretending that you are his mummy.

How can you sleep with a man who believes you only exist to serve him?
Tell us all how much housework he does, how much child care, & if he knows when his children's sports days are?

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 09/08/2022 08:51

Wtf did I just read. Is he a big ole baby that toddles about and can't make a sandwich. So fucking sexy. I'd have to kill him.

Plumtreebob · 09/08/2022 08:58

Ergh, another man who thinks his wife is an unpaid housekeeper, nanny, cook with a VIP man job that must be respected. How unattractive. I’d stop doing anything for him.

AtrociousCircumstance · 09/08/2022 08:59

It’s not illogical, it’s straight forward sexism and entitlement.

your H is a twat.

Hugasauras · 09/08/2022 09:00

??? God I am on mat leave and never make DH's lunch for him! Or cook lunch at all - it's all cold stuff here Blush He appears when he wants and makes his own!

pictish · 09/08/2022 09:11

rainbowstardrops · 09/08/2022 10:29

He's an entitled idiot! Why on earth does he expect you to make his lunch?
Does he contribute to any household chores/childcare?

10HailMarys · 09/08/2022 10:38

DP and both work from home three or four days a week and he still makes his own lunch! If one of us decides to cook something we offer to make some for the other, but if we're just making a sandwich or beans on toast, we just crack on solo.
