I think they sound lovely - not that I have them! But listening to them in the breeze I find calming 🙈

SunscreenCentral · 08/08/2022 20:42

Especially the wooden ones. No. I don't like.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/08/2022 20:43

I have them in my garden.

They’re no more antisocial than dogs who are allowed to bark all day long.

Also, mine are bamboo. I agree the metal ones can be a bit much.

Seriously annoying as you can never escape the sound.

I hate the sound of running water, which is my issue entirely, but my neighbour has running water going 24/7, I can just about cope with putting my washing out, but otherwise don't use our garden. She also has an annoying barking dog, but that is more bearable because even that can't bark 24/7.

They don't bother me at all. I don't even know if my neighbours have them. I think when you live in a town centre terrace you get used to being at fairly close quarters with other people and minor noise like wind chimes doesn't bother you. My road is a fairly main artery into town and I'm used to all sorts of noise - traffic, bin lorries etc during the day, lads on motor bikes in the evenings, drunks shouting on the way home from the pubs and clubs, police helicopter a couple of times a week etc. You just phase it out.

She's gone of on holiday for two weeks so I've pulled it down and left it on her step - hope she takes the hint 😊

@canina were the chimes on her front door? I would be careful if they were in garden / on her property as she could get very upset with trespassing

I've had ongoing problems with neighbours' wind chimes too – I posted a thread on here a while ago. I had some good advice which was to speak to the council as they will probably be classed as nuisance noise. The council will send a letter (your identity won't be revealed) with a warning. If the noise continues then they could face a fine and ultimately (although unlikely) court action, although at this point your identity would become known. Failing that, a company called Sanctum Consultants could help, they're inexpensive and knowledgable. Good luck!

What a shame. I love mine!

Bet your neighbours don’t!

Did you go into her garden to pull them down?
I really don't think you should have touched them tbh

Our neighbours have wind chimes and they're so quiet you can hardly hear them. Ask if they'll tie them up overnight? I wouldn't suggest damaging someone else's property just because you don't like them. Imagine if we all did that - where would it end?!
