It's been striking how often the word "woman" is being replaced in a lot of contexts over the past couple of years, for example by using "menstruators", "uterus havers" and "people with a cervix" in place of "women".
And yet contrast this with the latest advice on vaccinations against monkeypox:

Why has it not been deemed to be necessary to change the language used to refer to men in these publications? Why is it only the words "women" and "girls" that has been deemed so unremarkable as to be replaceable?
