Did anyone get these ? Which and where on your face ?

What age did you start ? Can people tell you've had it ?

Would you recommend it?

Yes I have botox regularly, I am 43 and started at 28 (because I suffered from migraines), starting younger is meant to prevent the lines forming in the first place but this isn't why I did. Mine looks natural I think although I have been told I look 35. I have had lip filler but hated the feeling of the injections in my lips - I wouldn't have it again. I also don't like the look either to be honest although my lips are quite full anyway.

Indoorcatmum · 03/08/2022 11:30

I have both, no one has noticed, other than DP saying I look younger and fresher as I have heavily hooded eyes which were prematurely aging me (30).
I had a botox brow lift which has marginally raised them.

My mum is VERY critical with no filter so 100% would say something if she noticed. I only get .5ml of filler as I have a full bottom lip and a thin top.
They kind of just look how they did when I used to slightly overline them, if that makes sense?

I go every 6 months as it has definitely worn off by then.
Definitely give it a try, I will do it forever now!

Blueberrywitch · 03/08/2022 11:32

Started Botox at age 24 as had v heavily lined expressive forehead - i get filler occasionally in cheeks and chin (to even out face proportions). I love it! I wouldn’t get lip filler until much older though as I feel like it’s always obvious even when it looks good, and I want to stay as natural looking as long as possible!

Wifflywafflywoo · 03/08/2022 11:51

I had completely flat lips, absolutely no plumpness whatsoever. Started six years ago at 26 getting 0.5ml filler every six months. They are now beautiful and natural looking, no duck pout or top ridge. Everyone I have told is surprised they aren't real. They're soft with no lumps and really suit my face shape. I love it, it completely changed my confidence for the better. Just be super careful choosing where you go. My lady is a registered nurse with about 15 years of Harley Street cosmetics experience.

abadgutfeeling · 03/08/2022 11:53

How you choose where to go though? It seems to hard to filter out genuinely experienced people from charlatans

PurpleFlower1983 · 03/08/2022 11:58

I only started Botox this year at age 38 and had my second lot around a month ago. It lasted for around 4-5 months before I saw it wearing off. I really like it, I can still move my eyebrows etc but the lines that were bothering me have gone. I look like my younger, pre-kids self.

Andante57 · 03/08/2022 11:58

I found it very painful - the person doing it said “please can you not scream as it frightens people in the waiting room”.
This was 4 years ago and I haven’t gone back and I’ve reverted to looking like Keith Richard.

JennyForeigner · 03/08/2022 12:02

I had botox to help horrible 'II' lines from living overseas and a lot of squinting in bright sunlight. I was given the tip to ask my dental practice as they are experts in how facial muscles work and they did it as a sideline.

Probably a bit more expensive but all very professional as you would expect. Never had any bad results and after 3 appointments the lines had disappeared completely taking years off me. I then forgot all about it for five years and now starting to think it's time to repeat.

PurpleFlower1983 · 03/08/2022 12:04

Just to add, no one has noticed mine except to say I look fresh faced and asking what skin care I use. Everyone has put it down to me just having 12 months off work mat leave.

Sunnydayz · 03/08/2022 12:07

I started getting Botox at 29.
2 areas, between brows and forehead.
Best to start BEFORE lines/wrinkles develop.
I love it, currently pregnant and will be breastfeeding so need to abstain for now but will go again so soon as done breastfeeding.

I go to a really experienced nurse, and she is quite expensive. Lots of nurses I know have started doing Botox and fillers now and they are cheaper but I think I’ll stick with my experienced lady.

My partner and friends are surprised when I tell them I get Botox.
(I told my partner, and he didn’t believe me, he thought I was joking until months later when I told mutual friends of ours on a night out!)

I don’t think lip fillers ever look natural, not saying it looks bad, I think it’s like having big long eyelash extensions, it’s a look, if you want it, its up to you!

Cr22345678990 · 03/08/2022 12:09

im 32 I have started having Botox every 3 months in the last year and absolutely love it. I get sad when it starts to wear off. I had lip fillers but hated them I think I started with too much 1ml, they also migrated so I’ve had them dissolved I think I’d go for a Botox lip flip next time.

Cr22345678990 · 03/08/2022 12:10

Oh and I have two forehead areas and around my eyes. No one has noticed.

Svadhyaya · 03/08/2022 12:11

If it's done properly people won't be able to tell, you'll just look fresher faced.

I'd advise going to a medical professional. Ask around or google in your area to find one and then take a good look at their credentials. It's worth paying a bit more for someone who really knows their stuff. Another piece of advice I was given is to look at what the practitioner themselves looks like - if they look natural & you'd never tell they had work done they can probably do the same for you. If they look very unnatural then you'll probably end up looking the same!

xogossipgirlxo · 03/08/2022 12:16

I only have lip filler, first one while I was 28. Best decision beauty-wise for me. I had horrible lip. Small, made me look mean. My face looks so much better now.

I won't say no to face fillers when my time comes, or botox.

EmmaStone · 03/08/2022 12:22

Not judging, but curious...

I imagine it's quite costly to maintain, what does it cost? My friend had her lips done and it was about £500. I can't imagine ever being able to justify that.

With lips, is there a risk that your lips get over expanded? Does it mean you have to continue forever?

I did a face yoga session at the weekend. My instructor showed us her before and afters - no need for Botox, and her upper lip had also filled out. I'm now attempting 10 mins a night...

DonateBloodNCheckSmokeAlarms · 03/08/2022 12:27

I'm 39, been getting botox for nearly 10 years. 2-3 times a year at £400/time.
It stops me frowning therefore looking and feeling grumpy. I have hardly any lines even when it wears off.

Wouldn't touch fillers.

mistermagpie · 03/08/2022 12:42

I'm 42, been having Botox twice a year since I turned 40. My DH knows and a few friends but I only told them the last time I had it done and they said they never noticed it at all.

I get my number 11s done and a line in my forehead. Once I got my crows feet too but I felt I looked a bit dead behind the eyes with that, so when it wore off I didn't get it done again. The number 11s are totally gone but I can move my eyebrows and everything, my face isn't frozen.

In terms of choosing a practitioner there was a Q&A on the Mrs Gloss Facebook page with a Botox person and they recommended someone in my area. The person they recommended happened to be a dentist at the practice I go to anyway (big, city centre place) so I went to her. She's not the cheapest but I'm very pleased with the results.

mistermagpie · 03/08/2022 12:43

I'm about £250 a time by the way. But I only get those two areas.

I wouldn't touch filler either.

mistermagpie · 03/08/2022 12:45

Oh, sorry, me again! I don't find it painful at all but I've had lots of piercings and that kind of pain doesn't bother me.

Untrained · 03/08/2022 12:50

Treated myself to botox on my 11 lines when I turned 40 and was feeling particularly old and sad looking! Have it done 2 or 3 times a year (depending on finances). I justify it by reminding myself I dont spend a lot on makeup or getting my hair or nails done and it makes me feel better about my appearance so its worth it to me. I dont tell people and no one has ever said anything - its very subtle - i can still move my eyebrows up and down, I just cant frown!

Whoatealltheminieggs · 03/08/2022 12:50

I’m 38 been having Botox since I was about 30. I had lip filler once hoping it would fill out some scarring on my upper lip but it made it look worse and I have big lips anyway so felt silly walking about with big lips in a permanent pout. Luckily it dissolved quite quickly which I think is normal first time. I think there are some instances where filler is useful. If you have very thin lips, gummy smile, sagging skin or hollows under your eyes. Otherwise I wouldn’t touch it.

I had a friend who went to her and spoke highly of the treatment and also looked great after. I then checked if she was a registered nurse and what experience she had. Booked a consultation and she was so spot on with explaining my lip shape, all the risks, what would be best. She didn't do any "selling" and advised not to get treatment immediately after or during consultation but to go away and have a think first. Shes genuinely just a lovely woman too who loves what she does ☺️

CreamyCrisp · 24/08/2022 22:53

@Wifflywafflywoo Is her name Dawn Jasper?

Puppylucky · 24/08/2022 22:59

Not botox but filler on very deep marionette lines. I have it done every 18 months and I'm very happy with the results. The rest of my face is still pretty wrinkle free so I don't feel the need to do anything else.

Northernlass99 · 20/09/2022 12:03

Had 1ml filler in my cheeks because my jowls and saggy cheeks were bothering me. I love the effect. Only one close friend noticed and said something, to everyone else I just look better/fresher.

All depends on what you are concerned about. For me my forehead and wrinkles aren't too bad, its more the lower face sagging, so filler worked well.
