I have a colonoscopy booked in for Thursday and although I probably should be, I’m not concerned about the procedure.

But a little worried about the prep 🥺
Does anyone have any tips they would be kind enough to share

Get some moist toilet paper.

It can have different effects, I had a friend who didn't have a single bowl movement after taking it!

I agree with staying near the toilet, have a book and a cushion in the hall / on the landing if you have to.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, OP.

I had one on Wednesday in the US.

My prep involved only clear liquids (and no red, orange or purple liquids) all day Tuesday, followed by a nauseating 4 dulcolax at 4pm, then 238g of miralax mixed into 1.89L of Gatorade two hours afterwards, which I had to drink a glass of every 15 mins until it was all gone. I threw up around 9.30pm but managed to finish the last glass. I will never drink Gatorade again.

They only do it with sedation in my local hospital. I got propofol and everything went smoothly. Woke up easily, felt good the rest of the day but tired earlier then usual in the evening.

To the poster who thinks this is yet another unnecessary test - colon cancer is curable if caught early. Hence the screening.

I’ve had many, many colonoscopies. Please don’t worry about getting it all down in the recommended time frame - I’ve never managed it. In fact I take hours and hours and it’s always worked. I’ve never been turned away. Hope that’s reassuring.

I had the lemon Moviprep and it was absolutely nowhere near as bad as I’d been lead to believe - Gastrografin, on the other hand, is in fact the work of the devil, but I digress.
Just be ready for your arse to become a tap, because it really will. Other than that, I found it ok. I have Crohns though, so I don’t know if it was just a welcome relief at the time!
I do hope, whatever your circumstances, that everything turns out well.

This made me laugh. My sister needed to have a colonoscopy a year after me she asked me what to expect. I said its like peeing out your bum hole at the end.
