Posting for traffic because this has gone on for about 7 months now and I am just wondering if It's happened to anyone else.
I am 40 years old and in pretty good health, nothing wrong that I know of. I do a quick workout and at least 40 pressups almost every day. I also run a fair bit,and strength train, and have for years and years. Through the first lockdown I was doing 7 or 8 miles of running most days but I have always ran a few times a week.
I eat really quite well 80% of the time (I have days 'off' to go out and have meals out perhaps 1-2 a week but I don't eat meat and very rarely anything fried). I like my wine but not excessively. No menopausal symptoms and had a recent hormone test for something unrelated, definitely not peri-menopausal either.
Anyway since January, I became really achy almost overnight. It's worse some days than others but definitely worse more often than not. Running today, even up a slight slope was really hard work, I stopped and walked and that was hard too-I am not out of breath, It's definitely my limbs (legs/back). Going up any stairs is hard too, kind of like what you'd feel the day after a very hard workout.
I have always been pretty agile, would leap up from sitting down, get up easily if I have been sitting on the floor etc-not now! I move a lot more slowly and gingerly as my body just seems stiff and sluggish.
I had covid that I caught just before new year-and one of the main symptoms I had was this achiness-but I expected it to go away eventually! Is this 'long covid' perhaps?
I also avoid simple carbs unless I eat out, just to keep my weight under control but I am definitely not in ketosis, I don't follow it strictly enough and have regular days off. I've noticed achiness when low carbing before, but it never lasted long.
I have had a very 'good' summer as in a lot of significant birthdays/weddings/events and have put on a bit of weight as a result, but I am still probably not overweight or only very slightly if so-nothing that could cause this. I am usually a healthy weight and I know this bit of extra will drop off now I am not going out anywhere for a few weeks.
Has this happened to anyone else? It's really annoying me now. I am used to being active and sprightly.
People have told me it is just ageing-but it happened almost overnight. I just can't see it being just that?
If it IS long covid, any tips for managing it?
Thank you (I have to go out somewhere now, I haven't abandoned the thread if I don't acknowledge any responses that may or may not happen).
