To think someone is stuck in 2007 and is trying to get a message to us

What is going on with all the zombie threads today? And not all the same username either. Every thread I've clicked on this morning has been a zombie thread resurrected with some pointless comment/advice

OP posts:
StarlightLady · 02/08/2022 10:29

Having just seen replies in the Style & Beauty section for someone seeking advice on what to wear for a wedding, back in 2016, isn't it time that MN had posts "time out" for responses after a certain amount of time?

Wouldloveanother · 02/08/2022 10:34

2007 was my annus horribilis, it’s probably my past self appealing for help.

Summerslam · 02/08/2022 10:39

I think it's something akin to The Butterfly Effect and someone is desperately trying to alter what happened back then, to create a better here and now. Perhaps she should have ignored the sexting/slept with her colleague/eaten the last slice of cake?

It's intriguiging.

It works help if these ancient threads didn't show in "Trending", I've clicked into a few this morning because of this.

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 02/08/2022 10:43

it would help....

I was in a much better place in 2007 and we didn't have the cost of living crisis, Covid and the rest of the shit show. Let's embrace it!

Has anyone seen Atonement yet?

The credit crunch was looming though! I vividly randomly remember being newly married and tins of pineapple shooting up in price. Swings and roundabouts.

fromdownwest · 02/08/2022 10:54

Slow day at the Daily Fail me thinks

Lottle · 02/08/2022 10:55

It is all a bit Ashes to Ashes

I find zombie threads interesting though as thr writing style is different. People seem more sympathetic! And quite often sign off with their name

Yes I've often spotted a zombie when someone doesn't get instantly flamed for something inoccuous. It's a bit sad really.

houseandcar · 02/08/2022 10:57

I love seeing the zombie threads. It seems like there was a much smaller group of users back then who all seemed to know each other really well. And sending ‘CAT’ messages was a big thing. A lot of the information they shared was quite identifiable and it’s still here on the internet 15 years later. Kind of crazy really.

I imagine them all as SAHMs living in nice houses in Muswell Hill which they bought for about £300k.

And they talk about their primary school aged DC and I wonder what they’re all doing now they’re in their twenties.

Wheresthebeach · 02/08/2022 11:04

HQ - any chance of zapping them from trending? Its seriously irritating.

onmywayamarillo · 02/08/2022 11:09

@houseandcar so true I'd just bought a house for 300k in a lovely London location and was also a stay at home mum

He's 19 now 🤣

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/08/2022 11:09

Zombie posts from 5 yrs ago is bad enough

fatlazycow · 02/08/2022 11:13

I enjoy reading the odd zombie too! Bizarre when you don’t initially realise then clock the date and realise all the ‘toddlers’ you are reading about are now pushing 20.

SalviaOfficinalis · 02/08/2022 11:25

I do like it when occasionally the OP from the thread sees it and gives an update.

Also, I’ve just read one of the threads from 2007 and it was really confrontational, so I definitely don’t believe the perennial threads about how mn used to be so lovely and just recently everyone’s got really aggressive.

Foldingchair · 02/08/2022 11:28

I started on here in 2009 (that's a bit sad really, and i would never admit in rl) and it def wasn't all hearts and flowers. It was more cliquey too, but I think its user base has exploded since, so you don't see as many regular posters on everything.

BruceAndNosh · 02/08/2022 11:32

Can i have my 2007 waistline back if I click on those threads?

fatlazycow · 02/08/2022 11:38

It’s even weirder looking back at 2002 threads which were 20 YEARS AGO

I was 10. My own mum could have been a mumsnetter and I could inadvertently be reading a post about myself 🤔

LivMumsnet · 02/08/2022 12:00

Aah, 2007 - I had an 'on trend' mullet haircut and had only just discovered skinny jeans. Good times. <feels wistful>

In all seriousness, there HAS been a tedious time travelling troll around this morning. Deep sigh.

We're doing our best to thwart their attempts to resurrect every noughties thread going but some may slip through the net....

Please do stay alert and let us know if you spot any.
