Vaccine and chicken pox

Posted here for more answers!

Did anyones child still get chicken pox even after having the first dose of the vaccine?
If so how bad was it and how long did they have it for?

My dd got the vaccine 10 days ago after chicken pox going around nursery. The day she got the vaccine I found out one of her close contacts come out in spots that day. So it's basically 50/50 chance my dd would get them.

We are due to fly this weekend and I've noticed a couple of small red spots on her arm and chest. Now I'm getting really worried whether it's chicken pox or not.
I suppose only time will tell.

My daughter did, had the first dose of vaccine then 5 days later she came out in spots. She did have lots over her chest, stomach and back but they weren’t too bad. Only a few were actual blisters and she didn’t have a temperature or generally feel unwell. She almost certainly had caught chickenpox before the vaccine as it’s rife where I am, and has been all year.

Not sure if she just had a mild case as it seems too soon for the vaccine to have lessened symptoms.

Well I'm thinking mine prob caught it as well before the vaccine. I've read it can take 2 weeks for the spots to come out. I'm hoping 10 days is enough time for the vaccine to work and if it is chicken pox then a really mild case.

My older daughter got them really bad and was quite unwell for a few days. That's why I got the vaccine for her sister.

Really hoping it's not them or looks like we will have to cancel our holiday this weekend!

My little one and my niece both came out in spots exactly 10 days after exposure to it so it sounds likely. Hopefully she'll have a mild case of it and you can enjoy your holiday 🤞🏼

Had they both had vaccine as well?
I've read a couple of positive stories, just a few spots after vaccine and cleared up in a few days. Hopefully she's the same!

Fingers crossed you’ll be ok! My daughter was only 5 days from first spots until all crusted over so you may still get away with it if it is chickenpox
