To repost the same event for five days on social media?

daysayso · 31/07/2022 11:15

How many times do you expect to see footage of the same event on your feed on Instagram for example?

If a big event has taken place is it reasonable to post once a day for five days or is this just annoying to people?

Should you only post about a past event once?

Please only answer if you're familiar with social media and use it

Thanks in advance

Annoying. I would scroll past after the first time as I would assume it’s the same content. Five days in a row would probably make me unfollow the account

WhatWouldHopperDo · 31/07/2022 11:17

Off question because you can post whatever you want how often you want?

Is it a public FB page or personal? That would make a difference. If it’s personal, I don’t know why you’d post more than once but, as I say, post what you want.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 31/07/2022 11:18

*odd question

purplecorkheart · 31/07/2022 11:19

Honestly once, five times I would unsubscribe and question whether I still wanted to be friends.

Whataretheodds · 31/07/2022 11:19

Depends on the event - if it's something big enough and there's enough to say about it then several days isn't unreasonable.

toastofthetown · 31/07/2022 11:20

It’s not unreasonable to post that much. Everyone can put what they want on their social media. Personally I’d only post once and not again, but wouldn’t care what anyone else did.

Whataretheodds · 31/07/2022 11:21

I've assumed you're talking about a business account promoting something you've done or been involved with.

If someone posted about their wedding 5 days in a row I'd probably mute for a bit unless i was interested in the pics

Hoolihan · 31/07/2022 11:21

Totally depends - are you talking about Glastonbury festival's official feed or the time your mum went to see Michael Buble in concert?

Lottie2shoes · 31/07/2022 11:21

Yes. Same.
I would only post about an event once as I realise that to everyone else, they might not be as interested/invested as I am.
I have seen a couple of people post more than once but as PP, I scroll past the 2nd time while I inwardly cringe for that person.
Please do not post 5 times! Only if its an upcoming event and you want to increase numbers.

Ready4Primary · 31/07/2022 11:21

Why for 5 days? I would probably snooze your account so I didn't have to see it, it would annoy me.

Bubblebubblebah · 31/07/2022 11:22

Well depends.

Personal or company profile?
On personal, it may be annoying. But people can post what they want and I can just scroll by😁
On company one, I would expect they were somehow part of the event or it's a popular local # so they of course use it until it dies.

Pretty meh in both instances tbh. Nothing to get riled up about

QueSyrahSyrah · 31/07/2022 11:23

Depends on the event. Friends are still posting pictures and videos of their wedding 2 weeks later and fair play to them, I like seeing them.

If it were a baby shower or a birthday dinner it'd probably be more draining but even if I noticed (unlikely) I'm not sure I could bring myself to actually care, I'd just scroll past.

TimeForTeaAndG · 31/07/2022 11:24

Since IG feeds aren't shown in chronological order (unless you click the logo and Following) then it's not like the footage is going to show up each day in order to everyone anyway.

I prefer to think of my IG account as a photo/video album of things I want to be able to go back and look at again, I don't really care whether other people want to see it.

WudYouSayItInRealLife · 31/07/2022 11:25

Sounds extremely annoying. Why on earth would people want to read about something for five days. Was the event a one day event

ReeseWitherfork · 31/07/2022 11:25

If it was a friend then it wouldn’t bother me necessarily… especially if they were clearly posting because they were excited about it. Would have to be done in the right way. I only follow a handful of “influencers” and it would probably piss me off. But I generally don’t follow them because they’re repetitive anyway.

JingsMahBucket · 31/07/2022 11:30

@daysayso I work in digital / tech / design. If this is for a business, yes definitely post five days in a row. Because of the wonky algorithms, people may only see you post once.

If it’s a personal event but a big one like a wedding, yes post every day for exactly the same reason. Your kid’s graduation from high school? No, not necessarily. HTH 🙂

OutDamnedSpot · 31/07/2022 11:33

Depends. If it’s a business post, I think that’s okay so long as the content changes each time.

Multiple posts about the same event on a personal page would just be weird.

daysayso · 31/07/2022 11:41

Yes sorry this is a company page I should have added

QueSyrahSyrah · 31/07/2022 11:51

Again it depends on the event. Glastonbury, Queens Jubilee, Olympics I'd expect to see a lot of for a while afterwards from companies involved.

A fireworks display at a pub or something, one post afterwards would suffice, otherwise I'd think their marketing team were clutching at straws.

Bubblebubblebah · 31/07/2022 11:54

daysayso · 31/07/2022 11:41

Yes sorry this is a company page I should have added

Then yeah. Business regularly post for days after event.

CookPassBabtridge · 31/07/2022 12:09

People can hide if they want..

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 31/07/2022 12:26

Businesses are advised to post the same thing at different times of day to catch different followers so I wouldn’t be surprised by it, but it would annoy me, so I may snooze or unfollow.

luxxlisbon · 31/07/2022 12:29

Totally depends, a person who is over the moon to be married and posts a photo from their wedding every day? Probably expected.
A business social media rehashing the same boring content 5 days in a row? People will be less interested.

toastofthetown · 31/07/2022 13:45

For a business I think it depends on how it’s done, and what the business and even are. The Olympics sharing things about past Olympics, I’d expect. A cocktail bar sharing different photos of a new menu launch is fine. A week’s worth of photos of your office Christmas party would get an unfollow.

RainbowsMoonbeams · 31/07/2022 13:47

Is this company page having an event in 5 or so days? For example, posting daily for the build up of an event may be acceptable.

If you are just trying to gain custom, you’ll piss people off.
