Posting for traffic

ds who is amazing has just purchased an expensive coffee machine (beans, ground coffee the works, like a Starbucks machine).

it is her birthday this week (I was going to get her a dolce gusto but never mind), I’d like to get her something coffee related, hinging beans, cups, syrups etc but haven’t a clue when it comes to coffee as I don’t really drink it.

please would you spam the thread with your recommendations for all things coffee that you would be happy to get as a present. I’m thinking I may do a hamper if it’s lots of small things.

@Gigglebert and @DevilsVineBlues what is a tamper please?

When your ground coffee is dosed into the filter, it's the thing you use to squash it down to prevent the water going through too quickly.

Most coffee machines come wth one, but it's normally pretty lightweight and it's nice/easier to use a heaver one.

Thanks all I really appreciate the help and ideas. Looks like i'll be popping into tkmaxx.

What is classed as decent/ good beans please?

Iron & Fire coffee. I am a barista and this is the only coffee I will drink!

Justrealised · 30/07/2022 19:42

Someone who has just bought a bean to cup machine would not want to ruin their coffee by adding syrup!

blebbleb · 30/07/2022 19:45

Pact subscription is really nice. Also Monmouth coffee as others have mentioned.

Brented · 30/07/2022 19:45

If she really loves coffee that much and invests in decent beans, no way would she like syrup!! Don’t get her that! Monmouth coffee is the best in my opinion, Pact is a bit rubbish. I would definitely send her a kilo of Monmouth beans every few months, I would absolutely love the person who did that for me!!

Rainbow set of le creuset mugs or espresso cup version if she likes to drink those

Phineyj · 30/07/2022 19:48

www.bellabarista.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=cafelat+large+tubbi+knock+box+red+1277&amnoroute we have one of these. It's a nice object and does its job well.

I would see what cups she likes, as I hate Le Creuset mugs (love the cookware), as they’re too chunky and thick. Costa Nova do a beautiful range of coffee cups, and the espresso cups can be used for a nice mousse/chocolate pot.

My husband loves his coffee. For Father's Day I got him a coffee hamper online. It had a few different coffees in both whole bean and ground. Plus absolutely loads of different varieties of little wrapped biscuits for coffee. He loved them. And I'm quite partial to an amaretti dipped in my espresso!

evilharpy · 30/07/2022 20:04

Another vote for Pact, or look at Rave (based in Gloucestershire) for nice beans/subscriptions.

Also I really like my Sho tumbler for having a large americano and keeping it hot for ages.

whiteroseredrose · 30/07/2022 20:08

DStepF bought DD a taster pack from Higgins the Coffee Man in London. Very high quality apparently.

Ivchangedmynameforthis · 30/07/2022 20:14

My DH loves coffee and he orders from a roastery near to us call Pumphreys. He loves their coffee. I'm more of an Aldi instant or iced latte lover so no idea if what I'm recommending is good but may be worth a look.

Whatup · 30/07/2022 20:28

Tk max coffee syrups are sugar free but not any good at all. Soo bitter. The monin minatures are a rip off. Get some big ones from a big sainsburys or something. Some packs of lavazza? Maybe a couple of ready made cans for when you need a coffee hit and in a rush?

Whatup · 30/07/2022 20:31

Ive got two starbucks plastic tumblers because they look cute and are really good for iced coffee and juice. Quite exspenive tho! I always have lidded tumblers because there is always some exspensive technology on the front room table.

coffeetogo22 · 30/07/2022 20:37

This Aberdeen-based coffee supplier is very reliable and supplies the best quality coffee : www.macbeans.com/coffee-subscription.html#/

Towcester · 30/07/2022 20:39

I am guessing if she bought a decent coffee machine she will have a lot of the kit already - burr grinder, tamper etc. She likely makes better coffee than Starbucks or Costa which a lot of people who have their own machine would consider inferior so I wouldn't go for anything from there. Monmouth coffee subscription would be a winner or any other good local independent place that offers subscription.

baffledcoconut · 30/07/2022 20:44

I’ve had Jericho roasters coffee and also UE coffee. Both are excellent,

FangsForTheMemory · 30/07/2022 20:58

Something from Caffe Florian in Venice shop.caffeflorian.com/en/gourmet/coffee/

MumDadBingoBlueyy · 30/07/2022 21:01

I adore my chilly bottle liberty travel mug 🥰www.chillys.com/uk/pages/liberty

and as others have said beans local roasters, we are Worcestershire based and have a method coffee subscription 🥰

Erictheavocado · 30/07/2022 21:05

I have a Rave coffee subscription and couldn't be happier. Every month something tasty and interesting drops through my letter box and brings me pleasure for about 3-4 days. I'd definitely recommend one of their subscriptions. Otherwise, a specialist coffee bean store jar.

Crochetcacher · 30/07/2022 22:27

We order from Divine Coffee in York, a small independent company, really good service, we have it posted to us, they do lots of different gifts, including a box of different beans.

Gigglebert · 31/07/2022 07:46

We have a subscription with www.thomsonscoffee.com/ in Glasgow as they are relatively close to us and we wanted to support a local business. We get through more coffee than I'd care to admit (I blame wfh) and have a delivery every fortnight. I'd agree with people upthread who said that syrups are out, you don't spend a fortune on a decent coffee machine unless you really want to taste the coffee.
