If you’re eating alone in a fast food restaurant, which is relatively empty, would you choose to sit in the ‘booth’ next to another person - but on the opposite side so you’re looking at each other while you’re eating?

some people are so precious, I mean what do you want? the whole restaurant to yourself??...GROW UP!!!!

Do you have Social anxiety or something? Based on that diagram I can see absolutely no issue at all. As others have said, I have more concerns about you and your reaction to the situation - and it is perfectly possible even facing like that to simply NOT look at the other person when you lift your head. If you kept looking at him, he probably thought you fancied him, or something. This is such a non-issue in my opinion

Depends if they were minding their own businesses or not. Was their behaviour intentionally trying to get your attention? If you are uncomfortable, move, l move almost daily, away from intrusive men.
Swimming yesterday, doing the breast stroke and a man swimming came up swimming behind me. He was following me. It was in the sea, so no lanes and lots of space. Then he tried to speak to me. I swam away in another direction and blanked him. Wanted to make a smart comment but was out from shore, so not the safest place to confront an idiot.

An adjacent booth is absolutely fine OP. You sound more weird tbh lol sorry.

After seeing diagram, I would say they were find with seat choice.

My Dsis sent me this one...she was in the DMV..Department of Motor vehicles waiting for her driving licence...after about 10 minutes she felt like someone was staring at her so she looked over and saw this little girl...(Dsis didnt have on her glasses)as it was a school day she couldn't work out why the child was standing there and not in school! Putting on her glasses she finally saw that 'the child' was actually a life sized cardboard cut out😂

Completely weird. What I find weirder is the amount of people commenting they don't find it weird that the restaurant is very empty and yet someone else doesn't want to give them and fellow eaters space.
I would be really pissed off with this and either move or leave quickly.

It is possible that this person always occupies the particular booth, or that he had arranged to meet someone in the restaurant and was able to keep an eye on the door or the carpark or both from that seat.

I took a booth because there were only a few two person tables and they were all taken - the booths typically seat 4 but there were only about 10 people in the restaurant in total.
'Very empty' is over egging the situation. It's clearly a small restaurant.

Not all men are axe murderers. Some of them just go into a restaurant to eat.

Just been reminded of this thread, I’ve come to a completely empty park, there is 14 benches, I’m sat on one With my children, no one else is here, a family have come and sat on the bench right next to us 🤦🏻 Of 13 empty benches!

Adjacent booth is a totally different table. A bit self-obsessed if you think this is because of you.
