To want to dance?

God I missing dancing. I'm in my 40s, kids now teens. I used to LOVE dancing, but am not a dancer (no particular skill) and now I only ever get to dance at weddings and in my kitchen. I don't want to learn tap, or salsa, or anything in particular. I don't want to stay up late anywhere loud. I want to want to dance to pop/old funk. Is it just the kitchen for me now???

Thank you all for the ideas - feeling quite hopeful now :)

I'm in Birmingham, for those who've asked.

Thank you again. It's also good to hear others who've found good outlets for the dance craving

Is there esctatic dance near you?

I can't work out if I want to dance or not. I loved dancing. I was the one on the dancefloor more interested in moves than pulling and happy even if no one else was dancing. Mum was the same and she still enjoys a kitchen boogie. I haven't been dancing for a decade and I think I have lost my skills!

I hear you, op ! I was reminiscing with my dsis yesterday about days gone by when we'd go out and dance all night.
We're both mid 50s now and we either dance in our kitchens or wait for celebrations when we're the first 2 up.
For me, I do zumba, so I'd recommend that.

Just google 'dance fitness classes Birmingham' (or your specific area) and give it a whirl! Good luck!
