Need a handhold- ill and due to fly home tomorrow

Posting here for traffic. On holiday with DH and two young DC. I started with diarrhoea at 2am. It's showing no signs of stopping, even though I've had nothing but water since last night and we're due to fly home at midday tomorrow. It's a 4 hour flight and on the way here there was a queue for the toilet pretty much the entire flight.

I don't know what to do. If I'm still like this tomorrow I can't possibly fly, can I? Presumably the insurance wouldn't pay for all of us to stay so DH would have to fly home with the DC and leave me here?

DH has taken the DC out to give me some peace but I'm just lying here panicking about tomorrow in between running to the hotel bathroom. I don't even know where to start with the practicalities if I can't fly tomorrow, would we contact the airline or the insurance company? Will they definitely pay out? If anyone has been in a similar situation and had any advice it would be very much appreciated.

I don't feel you were dramatic at all. I think you did the right thing to go and see a doctor and find out the cause of the problem and give you meds accordingly to go on that flight safely.

Yes it does I went to ask for clean bedding once because my son had been sick. He wasn't ill just had too many sweets. All hell broke loose they were saying we would have to stay in our room until he was well enough to travel home. I'm a single mum that would mean my daughter would have to as well. We managed to get him in to see a doctor. She examined him and said herself he's obviously fit and well.

On the morning we left a man in a full protective suite and mask turned up to give our room a deep clean.

I'm very glad to hear that OP, and by the way I don't think that you were being unnecessarily dramatic at all. I would have been just as worried as you, and I would have gone to the Dr's like you did.

Just keep your fluid levels up and have some toast with jam or marmite on it - ideally alternating between the two, or marmite on toast as your starter, jam on toast as your main, and for a snack later, a small banana if you can stomach it, but eat everything slowly, and not too much at any one time - oh, and no butter!

In fact you should try to keep off any dairy products until you are confident the germs are out of your system. Also, if possible, rest more than you normally would during the daytime, as your body will recuperate a lot quicker with rest and lots of fluids, and a reasonable amount of sugar and salt. xx

I don’t think tampons work how you think. They aren’t a plug, they absorb liquid and swell up. If someone was frequently shitting them self they wouldn’t be any help.
