What did you get your DD for their 18th?

DD is 18 in a few weeks and I have no idea what to buy her. I've ordered her a cake and bought her an outfit to go out in but I'm stuck what to buy as a main gift.
She's not a girly girl, doesn't wear jewellery, already has AirPods, phone etc.
She works full time so anything she needs or wants she gets herself. I've asked her what she'd like and she said she can't think of anything!
I need some ideas please

Diamond earrings

My DD was 18 last Christmas. I took her to Bluewater for a shopping spree where she bought clothes, shoes, stuff from Lush, more clothes and her favourite, Yo Sushi!. She also had a little party at home, about 10 friends which was great. After 2 years of lockdowns, isolation, leaving school abruptly, not doing GCSE's, no prom etc, it was such a tonic tbh.

DD and I went to see a musical and stayed in a nice hotel in London.

A designer watch and have it engraved

FoxCorner · 28/07/2022 17:58

A new phone and some other bits and bobs. Some money for her and friends to have a day out in London. A cookie cake she wanted

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 28/07/2022 18:00

Driving lessons.

A flight to NYC - sadly postponed (her 18th was in lockdown) so is happening this year. Like others - she had everything so decided to give her memories instead of stuff. Maybe a night/weekend away? Spa/pamper day?

BonnesVacances · 28/07/2022 18:10

It would depend on the person of course, but a nice luggage set that will see them through years of travelling. Including a weekend bag for coming home from uni, staying with friends, short spa trips etc. Won't suit everyone but I'd have been thrilled with that at 18.

For DD's 18th, we paid for a weekend in an Airbnb with friends and stocked the fridge/ cupboards with food and snacks. She was the oldest of her friends so it felt like a big deal for them all to have that freedom and independence.

She's getting a luggage set for her 21st as she's not going to uni until later and won't need it until then.

Dd1 wanted a Mulberry Handbag
Dd2 wanted a designer watch

I'm surprising my DD with a trip to Rome the day after her 18th, just us two. There's nothing she needs/wants. A party would be a waste of money, I'd rather make memories, just the two of us. Just need to keep my mouth shut for a few more months 😩

loafandleaf · 28/07/2022 18:50

My mum got me tickets to Reading festival for my 18th, and then a groupon holiday to Rome for my 21st 😊

supadupapupascupa · 28/07/2022 18:53

My mum gave me her broken iron. Got herself a new one

entropynow · 28/07/2022 18:54

Driving lessons. I somewhat foolishly said 'until you pass' which he finally did aged 29...with some gap years 😁

YerAWizardHarry01 · 28/07/2022 18:54

A spa day and/or treatment?

cantthinkofabetterusername · 29/07/2022 05:29

Thanks everyone!
I've decided to go with Lewis Capaldi tickets. Unfortunately she can't do driving lessons as she has seizures
