AIBU to enter this competition - to win a groom for my dog and a haircut and colour for me, plus goodie bag - all worth £1000
To enter you have to like the hairdresser and the groomer's pages, share the competition and make a comment, write a tie-breaker phrase about why you deserve to win, send in a recent pic of you with your dog..... and share your insta handle
I feel like there's not much point in little old 44 year old me with 96 insta followers in entering.
My dog is cute (but black which doesn't photograph that well) and I'm slim and fairly photogenic. But realistically, would you actually bother>??
YABU - yes entere
YANBU - no chance, luv

You could've done it in the time it took you to write that! :)

@Bigwetdog I can't garner 1000s of instgram follows in 4 minutes.... or 4 months even! That's what I'm getting at - they want an 'influencer' here, surely?

Just bloody do it op. They probably don't actually - that'd divert attention from them. They want to expand their reach to people who will actually give them money. DOOOOOIIIT.

If they wanted an influencer they would approach one

Technically if it's a competition then they are obliged to choose a winner at random so can't just pick someone with lots of followers on purpose.

If the ASA ask them to, they have to prove they picked at random and show the process they used to do so.

If they can't then they risk a fine.

I thought that was just for a raffle/lottery style prize?

I think this one would fall under a multiple action entry promotion, but might be wrong!

www.asa.org.uk/advice-online/promotional-marketing-prize-draws-in-social-media.html

Where entry into a prize draw is based on participants carrying out multiple actions, such as liking or commenting on a post, tagging a friend to a post, following particular social media accounts or sharing a post, promoters must make sure they can accurately track all entrants and include all participants who meet the entry criteria when selecting the winner.
Rule 8.24 states that promoters of prize draws must ensure that prizes are awarded in accordance with the laws of chance. This can be done by using a computer process that produces verifiably random results, or, if a computer process is not used, by an independent person, or under the supervision of an independent person. Promoters must have evidence to demonstrate that the winner was selected randomly.
Picking names out of a hat is likely to be fine as long as someone unconnected with the promotion is there to ensure that it’s done fairly, and the promoter has evidence to demonstrate that this is the case. Complaints about a promotion in which the prize winner was selected by a member of staff scrolling through the post’s comments and selecting one manually were upheld by the ASA, because a member of staff was not considered an independent person (Bellatricks Ltd, 01 September 20211_).
The ASA also upheld complaints about a prize draw because, although the promoter explained that they had randomly selected a shortlist of 100 participants from a hat, and that they selected the final winner randomly from this shortlist, they provided the ASA with no evidence to demonstrate that this was the case (Molly-Mae Hague, 3 March 20211_).

Thanks, I was hoping a million mn'ers might say they will help me bump up my follower count. I'll have a go anyway.
