Hope Colleen prevails

I'm pleased for Rooney, she seems relatively down to earth compared to the average WAG.

Will Vardy have to pay Rooney's costs? That would be the icing on the cake.

PurpleWisteria · 29/07/2022 13:09

They are both utterly pointless. What a waste of money. Does anyone really care?

Yes the people on this thread, including you, who cared enough or was irritated enough by it to take the time to post 😁

Nekomata · 29/07/2022 13:17

They seem the type to think that they haven't done anything wrong and it's all a wind up because the judge is jealous or something.

Vardy? She’s delusional.

LampLighter414 · 29/07/2022 13:38

Vardy is a wrong’un

Nekomata · 29/07/2022 14:50

Yes! I think they are both delusional and will be blaming everyone except themselves.

Floisme · 29/07/2022 15:00

I do love a 'This-clearly-labelled-thread-is-so-pointless-that-I-opened-it-and-wrote-a-post' kind of contribution.

Me, I've always liked Coleen Rooney and I'm pleased for her.

Ask people who were in and around football in south yorkshire/Derbyshire area between around about 2005 to 2015. Everybody has a story. Maybe I'll start a tattle life account

I don’t know anyone in or around football

Friffle · 29/07/2022 15:24

Vardy has said: "I am extremely sad and disappointed at the decision that the judge has reached. It is not the result that I had expected, nor believe was just. I brought this action to vindicate my reputation and am devastated by the judge's finding. The judge accepted that publication of Coleen's post was not in the 'public interest' and she also rejected her claim that I was the 'Secret Wag'.
"But as for the rest of her judgement, she got it wrong and this is something I cannot accept."

Lol.

Suck it up, Becky.

Yes, she will as she brought the case and lost so will have to fund costs for both sides.

Papers are saying total costs are in the region of £3 million, a very expensive lesson in lack of judgement on the part of Ms Vardy.

balalake · 29/07/2022 15:46

The real winners are the legal teams.

HintofVintagePink · 29/07/2022 15:49

"But as for the rest of her judgement, she got it wrong and this is something I cannot accept."

The arrogance.

I always thought all the ‘wag’ stuff was a bit tongue in cheek and that they all understood it was a joke, not a lifestyle choice. I’m genuinely concerned that some people are this shallow and vindictive, whilst truly believing they are justified.

the80sweregreat · 29/07/2022 16:00

It seems that Ms Vardy is in the denial stage following this verdict.
She'll get there with acceptance, but it'll take her a while.

MsMcGonagall · 29/07/2022 16:53

Definitely justice for Colleen. It was ruled absolutely true that it was Vardy's account that was leaking Colleen's stories to the press. So many text exchanges in the judgement proving that Vardy's agent was always logging in as Vardy to view Colleen's stories, that they would then discuss, that Vardy knew about it, and that Vardy would give her agent the go-ahead to leak.

The agent even drafted Vardy's inital response to Rooney's wagatha Christie "reveal" post!

I think she'll get there when it is pointed out just how much an appeal would cost and if/when she loses the gargantuan sum she would be liable for.

McGonagleRU12 · 29/07/2022 17:48

Delighted for Coleen. #WagathaChristie indeed.
It's one of the most remarkable things a celebrity has done, and I think highly motivated by her and Liverpools hatred of The Sun.

AnneElliott · 29/07/2022 20:03

I'm pleased for Colleen. The hiding of evidence by Vardy told me all I needed to know about who was the guilty party in their case.

I do wonder if Vardy knows just how this will impact her - yes the legal fees but who will want to work with her again professionally?

Fhuukccssghkkb · 29/07/2022 20:14

I’m also interested in this case as it is an indictment of the state of our society and impact of Social Media.

Why didn’t the judge use this opportunity to teach them/wider public a lesson not to live through social media. Nothing you post is ever private! , Wasting our judicial system’s precious resources setting a petty argument is outrageous. I realise CR didn’t want it to come to court, but she made an error posting in the first place.

Who cares about their reputations? It’s not in the public interest. They are just well known as being wives of successful men. They have no job or talent to protect. They’re SAHMs for gods sakes. Why does Vardy even have an agent?!

Everyone needs to learn anything you post online is not private. Everything can be tracked back to you- be careful what you write on mumsnet! Once you press submit you lose control.

Fhuukccssghkkb · 29/07/2022 20:15

Sorry indictment is wrong word, I meant reflection!

Fhuukccssghkkb · 29/07/2022 20:23

I’m pleased for CR that she won, however I’m sure she’s learnt a lesson about not sharing private information with an acquaintance (her and Vardy were not really friends). I’m sure she has better boundaries now.

Kate (Duchess of Cambridge) is famously guarded and trusts few people, reportedly Meghan found her unfriendly and cold. But Kate probably did play her cards right in hindsight. It’s sad that when you’re that famous you can’t trust people, but trust needs to be earned over time.

The 'loss' of the evidence was just so transparent, as the Judge said too many coincidences regarding the loss and the timing of said loss and then the remarkable fact that it was only those messages that were lost, they mysteriously weren't backed up in the Cloud, had all been deleted and then clearly weren't, the computer crashed and broke and was disposed of even though it could have been forensically examined, this list goes on. Anything this convoluted is an untruth.

Ms Vardy has, by her own hand, shredded her reputation and cost herself £3m in the process.

LynetteScavo · 29/07/2022 20:31

I was reading the New York Times which described them both as TV personalities Grin

The only real winners are the lawyers, and anybody else, who made money from the case.

BronwenFrideswide · 29/07/2022 20:47

That's pushing it somewhat!

As someone said in the papers - the lawyers will be building Rooney or Vardy extensions on their homes. I mean £800.00 an hour😲nice work if you can convince someone to be daft enough to give it to you.

I've just read the full judgement and it looks absolutely terrible on RV.
