To not care about the rail strikes.

One of the reasons I own a car was to avoid using trains, as their service (or rather lack thereof) did not match their delusional ticket pricing. So they can strike all they like. They have no power to inconvenience me.

Do you care about the rail strikes?

Railways are a PUBLIC service. They should be run by the state.

There is NO part in which 'profit to shareholders' should come at the expense of the service.

Absolutely support there right to strike because as much as the Tory press will spin the line about greed... the greed as solely been from the owners at the expense of the service.

Ilikewinter · 27/07/2022 20:18

Nope I dont really care about them either, dont even see the increase in the traffic because I can choose to work from home.
Passengers numbers are already massively down and I cant see the strikes winning any more fans.

Yes I care, I have to go to Gatwick Saturday by taxi rather by the train, it’s selfish and unnecessary

My point exactly, the more strikes they call the public support will dwindle.

kedavra · 27/07/2022 20:21

I missed the last train from Liverpool Street by a few minutes. Had to get a packed tube back to Kings Cross and Dh to rescue me from Tottenham Hale.

FlippertyGibberts · 27/07/2022 20:24

I support them - they deserve reasonable pay and working conditions, and rail travel should be as safe as possible.

Nothing happens in a vacuum - rail staff winning better pay and working conditions will have implications in other sectors too.

lioncitygirl · 27/07/2022 20:24

Nah - doesn’t bother me. I can work from home when they want to strike and go in when they want to work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is the strike on Saturday? I thought it was just tomorrow?

I think you should care about the right wing medias narrative, the Torie leadership election focusing on who can dilute your rights/ union rights. Those is power are just desperate for you not to care, hopefully you’ll never have a dispute at work and need backing and support!

They don’t bother me personally. I sometimes take the train, if I can’t then I can drive.

I wonder if due to covid and many peoples ability to work from home now if necessary, that they’ll have less impact than they would have done prior to covid. People are much more used to adapting now.

Must be very frustrating for tourists.

balalake · 27/07/2022 20:33

I care, because the railways are essential in some places to the economy.

MarshaBradyo · 27/07/2022 20:33

I’m not totally ok with them but the impact is far lower here than previous iterations

Rather than struggling to get in by walking / other through gridlocked London it’s just wfh. The pandemic forced changes which mean easy alternatives are there for many

WinterMusings · 27/07/2022 20:38

I care because it affects a lot of other people. Hospital appointments/jobs/meetings/interviews/visiting I'll relatives/all kinds of plans.

it affects my friend who is a taxi driver, he works rank, no trains, no customers.

it affects local business/shops as staff can't get to work.

it doesn't impact me personally as I don't need to use the trains.

maddiemookins16mum · 27/07/2022 20:38

I don’t care because I haven’t used a train since 2019.

LouisRenault · 27/07/2022 20:44

They should be run by the state.

Been there, done that. No thanks.

Yes, like prices and inflation.
