Please help- dog advice

Im posting to see if anyone else has experience with this. Im 5 minutes from home and am going to call the vet as soon as I get in.

we took our dog to the beach today- she had great fun running about and swimming in the sea. There were lots of jelly fish which the tide had brought in but she never usually goes near them. Tonight she was trying to sniff them but she didn’t eat any (I’m 99% sure she didn’t, I had my eyes on her at all times but she’s fast and loves to grab things and now I’m panicking she ate a bit without me seeing)

she suddenly got quite hysterical and was frantically and I mean frantically trying to eat sand, seaweed and anything else she could. A few minutes later she projectile vomited green stuff all over the sand. I think she must have eaten seaweed- I didn’t see her eat any but she had it in her mouth and I managed to get her to drop most of it but she must have swallowed some). Since then she was sick twice and has been burping, frantically eating grass and sand, and she is completely hysterical.

shes been to the beach lots of times and never been like this, even when she accidentally swallowed seawater from swimming. I’m so worried she accidentally ate some seaweed (Google said it’s really toxic) or even a bit of jellyfish.

as I said, I’m going to call the vet once we get in, but I just posted while we’re being driven home to see if anyone had any experience or knowledge. I’m a bit of a worrier so I really hope I’m just worrying and getting myself into a panic about nothing and it’s just a simple upset tummy but I’ll phone the vet once we get in. We’re not first time dog owners and have dealt with sick dogs before but I’ve never seen something so quickly like this.

any help or reassurance or advice would be really appreciated x

I always put mine in a basket muzzle at the beach as he is a hoover on legs. Typical labrador, if it fits in his mouth, he eats it.

I doubt she'll want to repeat the experience but might be for the best in future.

That’s great advice, thank you very much! It must be a retriever thing because she’s the exact same as your lab- if it’s on the floor, she’ll try and eat it!!

thanks everyone for all the nice comments, she’s totally back to normal again and it’s such a relief for us all, last Sunday was honestly the worst night of my life and It’s such a relief she was fine in the end❤️x

One of mine is muzzled at the beach because he just eats bloody everything he can find on it. Worst was a dead bird, maggots the lot. Told him to drop and he just stared at me and swallowed it Envy that one was a 3 night stay at the vet, who he hates.

Muzzle was the only way forward for us.

Glad your dog is better.
