6 year old French bulldog.

Ate his meal last night around 4:30. Looked quite bloated afterwards and was acting a bit odd. He started gagging - I let him out to be sick but he wasn’t sick, he just started frantically eating grass. He’s been gagging on and off since but no vomit. He gags a lot generally so it wasn’t an immediate concern at the time. Then he started drinking a lot. Seemed ok again.

20 hours later he’s just thrown up his meal from last night. Partly undigested. Stinks.

Onviously he’s going to vet asap but in the meantime - what could it be?? Bloat??

Possibly a blockage?
Hope he's OK

Vet is the best call, they can check for obstructions or anything. Does he seem lethargic or in pain?

Our frenchie also does similar sometimes. He had gastroentiritis/pancreatitis as a puppy and ended in hospital with it. But there he had really bad diarrhea and vomiting for 3 days.

Now, when he's hot and/or hungry he eats gras, which obviously makes him vomit.

If he vomits and seems ill, we usually stop food for 24hrs and after that only chicken and wholemeal rice.

If he eats gras and regurgitates his whole food we tend to just leave him a little and see how he feels. Sometimes he move to fast after food and it comes straight out.

He was eating the grass to try and make himself sick, he may start feeling better now he has emptied his stomach

Happylittlethoughts · 24/07/2022 16:33

I thought obstruction... check where all his toys are etc.
Poor thing, let us know how he goes 🤞

I think obstruction too.

Had this happen to a kitten who had eaten earplugs. He had an operation to remove them & was fine.

This sounds like bloat and is a medical emergency. Go to the vet now I cannot stress how serious that is
