to say 'wear the bikini'

I'm currently on holiday. I chewed myself silly over what to wear before coming away and skulked down to the pool in a big bather on the first day

I'm a short arsed 16, so probably look bigger than a tall 16

There are gorgeous women of every shape and size strutting their curves in teeny bikinis and, regardless of size, their confidence makes them look amazing!

I'm now in a bikini!

Anyone packing and worrying - please don't, nobody bats an eyelid! 🌞

I probably won't ever wear a bikini again :( I am just so grim

I'm sure you're not! I love wearing bikinis and there is no way I have a "bikini body". Recently we were hiking in the mountains and came across a gorgeous little stream so I got my bikini out and jumped in. Dd joked that I always have an emergency bikini in my bag! I regret the many years I spent feeling self- conscious of my body.

I agree. I would never wear a bikini because I wouldn't feel comfortable. But a well structured one piece does wonders. I couldn't care less if every other woman is wearing a bikini, I have never felt the need. If people consider me odd then let them. I've even discovered <shock horror> swim leggings, they are marvellous!

Same here! I’m relatively comfortable in my own body… ok, I’ve got a bit of a tummy from having 3 babies in the last 5 years, but I’m 5ft9 and a size 10/12. Still, I can’t wrap my head around being in public in essentially underpants and a bra. Although I’m 100% secular, left-leaning and body-positive, I buy all my swimwear from an Israeli “modest dress” site and I love it! Better Sun protection and I don’t feel naked!

I wear swimming leggings under my one piece costume. From a distance, it looks like a sleeveless wet suit 😀

As someone in my 40s who often does not wear the top (depends where l am), l say you go girl!

VonWeasel · 24/07/2022 16:59

I always think that there are people who will look better than you and people who will look worse than you, so just enjoy yourself and be happy as nobody really cares . . . . Ditto re singing and karaoke on holiday! Nobody will remember you so go for it!!!!! 😂

@Workyticket - the second post was about how awful one pieces are. That was my point, badly made.

No it wasn’t don’t be ridiculous just because i feel wrong in a one piece on holiday doesn’t mean they’re not right for anyone else.

you either need to learn to read or not project your hang ups on to others.

the whole point of the thread is wear what you want and feel good about yourself! Honestly whatever you choose to wear make sure you accessorise it with a grip 🙄

I'm a size 8, I'd never wear a bikini because of all the extra sun cream required, I couldn't give a crap what people think of me in my long sleeve number either, I'm there to have fun not parade for others.

BigWoollyJumpers · 24/07/2022 17:17

Men just wear bottoms, convention dictates that women ought to cover their tits, but honestly, if men can cope with all their wobbly bits hanging out, and an expanse of flesh to put cream on, then so can we.
