Any vets about?

Sisters dog has what we assume to be swollen lymph nodes on both side of her neck (just behind jaw bone). Both feel firm and around 3cm big. Came up like this last week.

dog appears fine in her self, eating, drinking and playing and therefore sister hasn’t taken her to Vet.

This morning dog pissed and shit in the house overnight which is out of character. She’s just rang me saying dog was out in garden at lunch time and suddenly sat down on the grass and began retching (whilst sitting down??) before being sick.

Dog still otherwise acting well - eating, drink and playing.

Dog is a Dobermann (prone to lymphoma). Sister still reluctant to go to vet as dog is terrified of the vet and appears to feel well. Dog is 3 years old.

Obviously she should go to vet but does anyone think this could be lymphoma??

might be, might not be the only person who can tell your sister is a vet 🙄

RosiePosie27 · 21/07/2022 15:54

Have the lymph nodes gone down at all? She could have a virus, but lethargy, swollen nodes and sickness would ring alarm bells. I would take her, especially if she is losing weight and not herself.

safetylastday · 21/07/2022 15:56

But if you google lymphoma symptoms they are all listed as symptoms

Most vets would be happy to speak on the phone so perhaps your sister could try that

Well, it clearly doesn't, does it? It is vomiting and unable to control its bowel/bladder in an uncharacteristic way.

The poor thing needs to go to the vet, and avoiding taking it cannot possibly make the reality disappear if it is something serious.

This.

Dog will be more terrified if sister doesn't take it till it's seriously ill and stressed.

AutumnDragon · 21/07/2022 16:55

The dog is clearly unwell. If she doesn't take it to the vet ASAP she is very guilty of neglect

MalbecandToast · 21/07/2022 16:56

Tell your sister to get a grip and take the dog to the vet!

1099 · 21/07/2022 16:58

Tell your sister to take it to the vet and ask the vet to examine the dog in the car (assuming she goes in a car) our vet is more than happy to step outside if needs be.

Catapultaway · 21/07/2022 17:00

Yes, there are lots of vets about, so take the dog to see one!

GoTraine · 21/07/2022 17:00

By what possible bizarre logic does the dog "appear to feel well" if it's retching and shitting itself? It's obviously not well...

FeckingBirdSong · 21/07/2022 17:18

Just a reminder it’s not my dog! No point in chowing at me about it, I agree with you all!

I told her it could be lymphoma and she thinks I’m being dramatic

If she calls the vet first and explains the situation they may prescribe some diazepam or something so the dog will find the visit less stressful. She can’t just leave the poor pooch suffering

zizza · 21/07/2022 17:53

My daughter's a vet and I know exactly what she would say if she read this:

"Speak to your own vet"

Hope poor doggo's ok
