We’re looking at going away at half term but unsure where to go due to weather etc. my daughter will be in year one so have to go in the holidays, I can’t believe the prices, any recommendations?

I know this is not AIBU but I know this is the most used section.

If you Google the country name and 'entry requirements', the UK gov page on the covid requirements for each country will come up. Very few countries currently have any restrictions based on vaccination status. Even at the height of covid there were still countries that weren't restricting (despite common belief)

@Ridesally

There's no guarantee you will be able to travel without jabs. All the predictions are that covid cases may rise in autumn, if it's a more dangerous strain countries may impose more restrictions. We had to show covid passes for Spain

I would imagine covid restrictions will be back in place for some countries by October if a new strain emerges.

We've booked to go to Crete for October half term, but we are all vaxxed so we don't have the same restraint as you do. Maybe just go down to Cornwall if you want to book now rather than waiting to see what's going on with Covid.

With the rise in infection rate I'd be getting vaccinated now if you want a holiday in October. Wouldn't be at all surprising if covid passports are required again by then heading into winter.

Or there's always holidays here but October 🥶

We go to Tenerife every October

BakedTattie · 20/07/2022 22:10

what dates are the English October break?

MaggieFS · 20/07/2022 22:19

IMHO October half term is a bit chilly in the Balearics if you want a proper beach holiday. Canaries would be better.

Covid requirement will depend on your destination.

@InChocolateWeTrust because it is my choice, not something I am getting into.

But luckily for you the majority of people have chosen to have the vaccination, without which the possibility of travelling at all might not be available.

We used to go Feb half-term and it was fantastic. You need to get pretty far away though. I can recommend Florida, LA, San Diego, New Orleans (great spot to be for Mardi Gras) and Phoenix.

hulahooper2 · 20/07/2022 23:16

Re not having a jabs , what will you do if you catch covid abroad , folk with jabs feel quite I’ll when they catch it

Lunadreamer · 20/07/2022 23:22

Canaries is warm in October.

We also went to Las Vegas. It wasn't as warm as the Canaries for the whole time we were away. But lots to do beyond sitting by a pool. Especially if you're there for Halloween.

Yodaisawally · 20/07/2022 23:31

Depends on usher, perfect time for ME, Oman or Abu Dhabi. Balearics will be chilly and like often not heated. Canaries will be ok.or forget the weather and go to the Isle of Wight we've had fab October holidays there and been lucky with the weather, warm enough for paddling.
