I have just bought an electrical item from b&q. I've used it and it's rubbish. It's not faulty but just....rubbish! I only bought it today but can't make it look unused as you would be able to tell. I also wouldn't know it was rubbish if I hadn't used it. Do I have any right to return it? I have the box and receipt

It's a Bosch so I thought it'd be okay but even on the shortest setting it doesn't cut well at all

have you adjusted the roller height? It may be set on the highest setting.
My Bosch mower is 10+ years old and is brilliant. It’s just started making a funny noise so I was going to look for a new one as they no longer make my model. I don’t know what to do now.

Yes I have adjusted the roller height. I've definitely done it right (I think Grin ) It just feels really flimsy and cheap and doesn't cut short enough because of its weight I would think. Maybe the older one's are better!

Not quite the same, in fact probably complete opposite, but I was in Argos once and a couple were buying electrical appliances for a new house. They bought kettle, toaster and iron (at least, maybe more) and they got the Argos worker to take everything out of the boxes and plug everything in and test it worked in the shop.
I thought it was a brilliant idea! Although obviously wouldn't have worked for you 🤣

I am sure you have the right to return it within X amount of days even if it's not faulty.. It's 30 days at Argos, but that's because you can't see the item before purchasing (like in a catalogue/mail order...)

I am sure you have at least 7 days to change your mind. Just take it back and say 'it performs terribly and I am very unhappy, can I have a refund please, or store credit at least?'

Not if you've used it you don't!

OP, it is faulty, if its not doing its one job properly

I worked for a company that supplied goods to the DIY stores and they just chucked returned stuff in a skip.

We didn't want it back, it's not worth the hassle of paying for it to be returned, testing it (and it might be an intermittent problem) correcting the problem and repackaging it.
So unless it started a fire or electrocuted someone it was a cost our company lived with. (and the margins on some of these products can be dishonestly high... )
