Would you test

Started to feel a bit ropey yesterday, got quite a bad headache, a dry throat and a bit achey in the legs. Could very well be covid - I haven't had it yet.
Supposed to be travelling to Italy on Friday for a family wedding that has been cancelled twice because of Covid. My DC are so excited, and if I did test positive then they couldn't just go with DH because he's meeting us there (coming from a work trip abroad).
I feel like I should test, but if I'm positive then I've fucked up the holiday for everyone. After an almost 3 year wait to go on one at all. I suspect the plane will have covid anyway, but I am a generally socially responsible person and it doesn't sit right.

There are no entry restrictions for Italy. No proof of test or vaccination certificates required.

You won’t be any less positive if you don’t test. I would test and then at least you can make a decision based on that information.

MrsJBaptiste · 20/07/2022 16:07

I wouldn't test and I think a lot of people not on MN would be the same 🤷‍♀️

Wakemeuuuup · 20/07/2022 16:13

Of course you should test. If it's positive you should not travel.

Your kids will get over the disappointment and, assuming you have insurance, you'll have moneybtongo somewhere else later in the holidays

Wakemeuuuup · 20/07/2022 16:14

Money to go 🙄

SummerNightsDriftingAway · 20/07/2022 16:15

I honestly can't believe you would happily go to a wedding and potentially infect everyone, including the bride and groom, with Covid. Utmost selfishness. We've all had major sacrifices to make over Covid. This is yours.

Preeeettyprettygood · 20/07/2022 16:17

Yes but if you were positive would you really be happy spreading it at the wedding? And what if you are sick? That's not even mentioning spreading on plane etc.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 20/07/2022 16:17

I've been feeling a bit like you over recent days, did a test and it was negative.

I'd definitely be testing. You either have Covid or you don't, not testing doesn't stop it.

Agree!

If you test, be prepared to act accordingly.

Not testing is one thing (and is dodgy) but testing and ignoring a positive result is a whole other level.

not suggesting you would ignore a positive test OP*

Mindymomo · 20/07/2022 16:21

Personally, I would want to know either way. Are there going to be CEV or elderly people at the wedding, I wouldn’t want to pass it on to them. Do you have insurance if trip is cancelled.

ChuHua · 20/07/2022 16:22

Yes we have insurance

Then deep down you know what the best thing is to do.
Me, I would definitely test - if positive I'd hate to pass it onto anyone, whether on the journey or the wedding itself. I'm neither elderly or CEV, but am still recovering after over a month of catching it. 😔

Mariposista · 20/07/2022 16:53

Don't test

PurpleDaisies · 22/07/2022 08:50

What did you end up doing @ChuHua ?
