How much for UC. Website isnt working?

Never been on any benefits etc but because of my partner changing jobs (a whole different story and post) we are now losing about 5/6 grand a year of income from his wage😐😑
Which also means I cant go back on 4 days for my job. (I currently work 3 dYs week, used to be full time but after kids, pt) this is all because I'm being a supportive wife so hubby can full his dream career. sarcasm

Anyway, obviously to keep me sweet. Dh has said to look into claiming UC as we would now qualify? I have tried a few websites and everytime I fill in the criteria it just says page requested jot available..have been doing this only today so might be down but if anyone else is in a similar position please could you let me know how much you receive? Or actually would we receive?
So on 3 days my yearly wage is 11, 000
And my dhs new wage for the year would be 26, 000

Do we qualify? Is it worth me doing?

Unlikely. But it does depend on how many children you have and whether anyone in the household has a disability.

toomanyhobbies · 19/07/2022 18:55

Without knowing your whole household make up and circumstances no one can say. Try the turntous calculator that can give you an idea.

Preeeschooler · 19/07/2022 18:56

Do you rent? If so how much is your rent. We qualified on a fair bit higher salaries but our rent was huge.

Macbeth8 · 19/07/2022 19:05

Sorry forgot to add the finer details
Yes three children..one teenager
And 2 under 5 year olds
We own the house outright.
Sorry Ive rechecked my P45 and it actually says 10, 405!!!
Think im getting confused with when I was 4 days.

And partner sent me his first payslip it says 1277 so maybe its lower?
Hes only started a month ago so confusing about his wage atm as they get paid extra for bank holidays.

Try policy in practice benefit calculator. You may qualify as you’ll get higher work allowance and 85% of childcare.

Elevenerifebruv · 19/07/2022 19:09

What is your rent and how much does your childcare cost?

Elevenerifebruv · 19/07/2022 19:09

Oh sorry just realised you said no rental costs. Do you have childcare costs?

CornishTiger · 19/07/2022 19:11

If you have children
You’ll get an extra amount for your first and second child.

You will not get extra money for any more children unless:

your children were born before 6 April 2017
you were already claiming for 3 or more children before 6 April 2017
other exceptions apply
How much you’ll get Extra monthly amount
For your first child £290.00 (born before 6 April 2017)

£244.58 (born on or after 6 April 2017)
For your second child and any other eligible children £244.58 per child

CornishTiger · 19/07/2022 19:13

Couples rate £525.72

add the kids amount in.

add 85% of monthly childcare cost.

Thats the maximum award. save that figure.

Then look at your total monthly earnings less tax , Ni and pension contributions.

then subtract

CornishTiger · 19/07/2022 19:17

Work allowance of £573 this gives you the figure which is taken into account. Figure Y
got every £1 - 55p is then taken from your Universal Credit payment. So Y x £0.55 = Whatever figure.

Subtract that figure from the first calculation you did for maximum award.

CPandme · 19/07/2022 19:27

As above, only other thing to add is potential elements if the children get disability benefit (DLA) or if either of you is a carer (not as part of work).

As well as the wages any savings over £6000 would affect the amount that you get.

Thank you so much
Think iv got an estimate will just have to wait till the website is working and will put in the claim . Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

CornishTiger · 19/07/2022 19:53
