To ask how you show gratitude/kindness

I read a book recently and a part of it that really resonated with me was practicing gratitude.

I'm now trying to get into a habit of sending thank you cards when someone does something really lovely for me though I wondered how everyone else likes to express their gratitude?

Also, what kind of acts do you think deserves these big expressions of gratitude? Has anyone got examples of when someone has done something kind and selfless for you? Would love to hear examples.

I send thank you notes, I always have some in my card box and usually give the person flowers.

I'm generous by nature and can't stop myself doing favours for people or buying the odd little gift for no reason especially as a thank you. My dad is really generous and gave me 5k for nothing and I'm always buying him bits and bobs. My DP is also really generous. Writing this down I appreciate even more how lucky I am. We aren't rich, just working class. My dad is ex police so has a good pension.

I tend to think of practical ways to help in return. A new friend has not charged us for his professional services in a situation that has turned out to be ongoing and time-consuming, so, as I WFH quite flexibly, I help him out with childcare and dog-walking.
