Or is my husband? (Drinks after work)

I've been at home all day with a sick toddler (diarrhoea). It's been 38 degrees outside and I've been inside all day as toddler sick and too hot for her out there. All day at home and no planned activities. DH picks this day to go for drinks after work and skip DD bedtime. He says it's important because they won a big project and as one of the team leaders he can't be seen not to.

Would you be fed up or AIB a grump because my days been shit?

Yanbu! Why wouldn't he just say "my wife is sick and has been caring for my kids all day, the least I can do is go home and let her get into bed, I'll join you for the next one" and then bring in cakes the next day.

Surely he has some staff on his team with families to go home to and it might level the playing field a bit instead of lads lads lads out for drinks with the leadership team as they all have wives at home looking after their kids. He has a real chance here to make a more inclusive environment.

Bizarrely bad reading comprehension on this thread. People thinking that the OP’s husband should be able to predict when his toddler will get sick. And someone else saying that it’s the OP that’s sick.

I also don’t see why the husband should have to cancel. If I have a work event on in the evening, my DH covers bedtime. And vice versa. Sometimes it’s work work, sometimes it’s “a jolly” work. OP, you should be able to trust your husband when he says it would be difficult for him not to go. Sometimes it’s just a rubbish thing, but not anyones fault.
