If neither of you are at work, what do you do on weekends?

We have fallen into a rut of just sitting around the house all weekend - I’m bored!

Go on long walks with the dog, often stopping at a pub for drinks or lunch. Mooch around the nearest town and get a coffee. See friends or family at ours or theirs. Find interesting things to cook and make them together. Gardening.

Go to Local Football Match.
Go for pub lunch

wildthingsinthenight · 18/07/2022 17:38

Walks, pub lunch or nice takeaway, going for coffee and reading the papers, watching a film or series together,
Watching sport, visit family, DH might cook with DS

See to our many animals, walk the dogs. Have friends or family over for lunch, dinner or drinks, or go to theirs for same. Cook a more elaborate meal than we would in the week, watch a film, occasionally go the cinema, theatre or a gig, or out for a restaurant meal. Play board games or computer games. Sort out the garden, DIY or housework (we try and keep on top of it in the week but big sorting jobs or trips to the tip would generally be for the weekend). Pretty boring really!

Jobs in the house or garden. Watch tv. Drink wine. Go for walks or to the beach. Eat out. Go to the cinema.

SmellyToilet · 18/07/2022 17:45

National trust property, do the garden, go out for lunch / supper, cook a special lunch/supper, see relatives, do jobs round the house, watch a long film (in winter in the afternoon when the weather is bad).

There are loads of things why would you just stay in the house?! I assume you don’t have kids as this is impossible..
We have a son so parks, zoo, farms, crazy golf, beach, out for lunch, cinema, friends houses, families houses or they come to us for bbq’s. We have a day out in london soon and a theme park. It isn’t hard to think of things!!

IHateFlies · 18/07/2022 18:16

Go out. Anywhere. There's a world out there.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 18/07/2022 18:17

Once your kids have grown up it can be difficult to readjust to having weekends to just please yourself. At first it's nice to just sit back and relax after a week at work, but then the reality seeps in that for the last however many years your weekends have revolved around what DC are doing and family time. Suddenly you have 2 entirely spare days and you have no idea what to do with them.

I would say think of things you both enjoy and aim to do a couple a month to start off with and go from there.

SmellyToilet · 18/07/2022 18:21

We don’t have friends and neither of us have hobbies. I’m more eager to get out than DH is so I might have to go solo

Parkrun on a Saturday morning (not always together, sometimes we do separate ones with friends or just because we fancy different ones)
Nice brunch - usually just at home
Mooch around town/village
Nice walk somewhere
Pub for a drink
Go to the tip - recycle glass bottles, chuck stuff away (slowly emptying loft & garage), donate stuff to the charity shop
Visit show homes for new kitchen inspiration (Grin)
Go to a gig
Cinema
Trip out to somewhere scenic - lots of market towns/Abbeys/historic houses/moors/seaside places to visit
Watch DS play footy during the season
Go on a long cycle - must include nice cafe or pub for food and drink
Sometimes we've entered a race so attend that
Empty out a drawer then make the other person come and admire it, haha
Cut the grass, sweep leaves off the decking
Sit on the decking with a book and cuppa
Laundry - there's always laundry
Sometimes we have my friend's dog come to stay which is a novelty
