Can anyone tell me if it's safe to take the DC to an outdoor pool in 39*C?
8 months old has a full body suit and cap and I'm scared I'll cook her.

And - this may be a really stupid question but I genuinely don't know - is burning more likely the higher the temp, or does it only have to do with UV rays?

Yes you are being unreasonable, stay in doors where it is cooler and save it for another time.

Franca123 · 18/07/2022 15:17

I'd do it early in the day.

GladAllOver · 18/07/2022 15:26

Maybe I'm stupid, but we're still going. Just going to take precautions. Bring water, snack and sun cream by the poolside.

Yes you certainly are stupid. What do you think all the health warnings are for? Do you really think they don't apply to your child?

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 18/07/2022 15:31

A temp in the 20s I would for a short while but not in the 30s. Plus a baby can't reliably get fluids, my son at that age wouldn't drink water and he went off breastfeeding when he was tired and hot.

Ha hope you don't go on holiday hun. I went and it was fab. There were lots of children, and it felt a lot cooler because the waters cold. Have fun with your curtains drawn. Probably go again tomorrow.

Well more fool you and them. Lets hope your DC don't suffer later on. Heatstroke isn't evident straight away.

Oh and you have a name change fail

Turnthatoff · 18/07/2022 15:37

I wouldn’t, because it will be heaving.

your baby will be fine though.

restedbutexhausted · 18/07/2022 15:42

@sheabatta you mean there were lots of irresponsible parents?

Crunchymum · 18/07/2022 15:45

I think the OP is on a wind up to be honest.

We went to the lido this morning, water was a nice temperature and the trees made quite a lot of shade. So you could be in the shade pool side or in the water. We left at 10:30 and got home just before 11, the walk was all in the shade (with the odd road crossing to keep it that way), it was alright.
