Hi,

This is a really weird thread but I need help, I woke up at like 5am this morning and needed to yawn but it's like I can't satisfy the yawn or get a deep enough breath so I tried for like half an hour and ended up falling asleep but all day today I can't stop yawning but I can't satisfy it either so they're really shallow but happening constantly and it's driving me mad.

Is there anything I can do or has anyone experienced anything like this?

Are you on antidepressants? That's a side effect of some

No not on anything due to being 22 weeks pregnant - I've tried to google but not getting much back

Could have caught a nerve in your shoulder, I used to get it on long car journeys.

Lord I have this. It’s maddening. It comes and goes but the best thing you can do is distract yourself. Breathing into a paper bag gives some release.

I've felt like this at times I know what you mean. What works is this, you need to build up that deep breath. So count to 4 inhaling slowly, hold for 2 counts, then exhale for 4 counts. Keep repeating and try yawning, you will have that full yawn.

I get this a lot too, but it comes and goes. Sometimes I'll yawn hundreds of times an hour but never quite feel like I've got enough air.

Look up chronic hyperventilation syndrome and see if that sounds familiar at all.

You’ve just made me yawn!

What happens if you try to suppress the yawn?

At 22 weeks, the expanded uterus is probably pressing on your diaphragm. Plus progesterone affects breathing too. Pregnancy is fun!

Do you suffer from migraines? Yawning non-stop is a sign of an incoming migraine for me
