Please talk me down from my extreme state of anxiety…. Yes I am one of the many who are very worried about the impending weather, we are predicted 37 Monday and 39 Tuesday. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and suffer badly with coping with the heat anyway. I also have a heart issue. I’ve been trying to think logically, it’s only 3 days, I have preparations in place (even an air con unit but the talk of power outrages is terrifying me!). But something popped into my mind this morning and it’s overwhelming me. Hot tubs are usually set to 38/40 degrees aren’t they? I have to set ours to 36/37 as I can’t sit in the higher temp, I feel faint. The air is going to be the temperature of a hot tub….wtf?? How do I cope? Please calm me down and yes getting a grip is exactly what I need to do, I know this already!

To stay cool I wash my clothes and go get a cold or cool shower and then I put on the wet clothes in this heat it helps to cool me down. Don’t put on the tv or other devises as it just heats up the home. Try drinking lots of water with ice and stick to foods like fruit salads. Keep your oven off as it’s just going to make your kitchen like a furnace. Get up extra early at dawn and open all windows and doors if possible let as much cold air in then when it starts to warm up close your blinds, windows and curtains to keep out the warm ai and try sitting down stairs as that will be cooler I have anxiety and multiple health issues so I understand how your feeling. I am allergic to sunlight and live like a vampire in the summer. Try getting some fresh air in the evening by sitting in your garden. I usually go for a walk with my son at night as it’s cooler and if you can try some meditation and keep saying it’s going to rain on Wednesday and when it does it will cool everyone down. Let us know how you go on.

Haven’t read the thread (sorry!) but have you considered turning down your hot tub and sitting in that to keep cool? We had ours at 32 degrees today, and it was just perfect. In full sun too, didn’t feel the heat at all.
We’re not in the uk and it’ll be at least 40 degrees with us tomorrow, so kids and I will jacuzzi it out!

The Polish rug cleaning man was strangely hypnotic 🥰 I will be watching more over the next few days

I haven't read all the messages but hope you have some good advice. I live in the south of Spain and am not a sun and beach person, we go to the cinema a lot in summer and I even take a jumper for a long film. Supermarkets are also very cold.
